Taping a show on DISH

Can anyone tell me how to tape a show while I'm gone from a DISH channel?

while in the guide, find the program you want and hit select (the middle button on your remote) and it will bring you to a screen that will allow you to set a timer, VCR and something else....just hit VCR and tab over to "Create" and hit select again. You don't have to have the receiver on to tape..it will turn on automatically.

when i had DISH network, i would have to set the vcr to tape channel 3 and leave the DISH on, but turn the tv off...did that make any sense? lol

that's what i even have to do now with digital cable.

now that was about 2 years ago. it's quite possible that things could have changed for the DISH since then...
