Over the weekend, Iger makes his first big managerial decision, and no one's here talking about it? Apparently everyone is too sated by Easter candy!

:earsboy:

Well????? Are ya gonna tell us?? :earboy2:

Did you see the thread about the Disney dolphine in Baltimore ? Maybe you can answer the OP's question.

As for Igers first move, I like it, but don't know enough about it to hold a discussion on it.

I sent a note to someone at DAK about it ... and then of course, it was Easter and no one was there! Hopefully, I'll get an answer for them soon.

It's never stopped us before! :teeth:

On another board an ex Dis poster is claiming this a a "massive" step in the right direction but like everybody else he's skeptical.

On Another board?!?!?! ;)

How about we all read Disney War and then we can have a frank Book Discussion about whether Eisenr/Iger is more like Emperor/Vader or Sauron/Sauruman.

And we can discuss the Orcs of strategic planning in context.

You're all Star Wars geeks, aren't you. I have no hope of keeping up, in that case. I haven't seen a Star Wars film since ... well ... Return of the Jedi?

:sad2:

Well, in the end, didn't Ige...Vador turn on the EMperor and kill him ??? And everybody lived happily ever after............

No, I think we're more LOTR oriented, and there's not been a GOOD Star Wars Film since ROTJ, ROTS may be a good one, we'll see.

Anyway, any comments relating Disney managment to the Empire are rooted firmly in the Original Trilogy. pirate:

In either case, as has been mentioned at the super secret other place, Eisner/Iger makes for a good comparison to those nefarious villians in those movies.

The question is, is their still good in him? Is he more Eisner now then Man, Twisted and Evil.

And who play's Luke?

Judging by this first Massive step I'm a little more optomistic then I was about two weeks ago.

As if a LOTR geek us any better than a Star Wars geek ;).

I've read a couple of very unflattering articles regarding Murphy ("The Enforcer") and the whole Strategic Planning group. Getting rid of them can only be good.......it's what gets done in their absence that will matter most though.

That could just be because he has "forseen it" or that it is "according to plan" and we are all none the wiser to the real evil hidden beneath...

WD!....you're "still in the loop!" ;)

You're right that the masses missed that, it is meaningful - exceptionally so! - and IF similar "actions" are taken (shudder) I 'could' turn into an "miniME" fan! :earseek:

Honestly thou, this one is like closing a gate that was left open awhile - no real "surprise" that the cattle have left the field!

Murphy (aka 'The Enforcer') needed to have his wings cliped. When Bob brings back Traditions in it's full form I'll get down on my knees and thank my higher power! :teeth:

Seriously, this is a great develop if accurate as 'advertised'! :)

And who play's Luke?

The invisible man.

Anyway, I'm happy to hear this. I do believe Mr. Cricket is right - there's a master plan. If ME had flown solo on this it wouldn't have the same effect.

Traveling more now ... harder to spend quality time on the DIS. :)

I really don't think anyone or anything will bring back Traditions in its full form. The class really did need a bit of updating. I remember the week-long classes, and honestly ... I thought much of it was a waste of time. A little too much "cheerleading" and not really enough practical information. The first half of the first day was great, because you learned Disney history and you learned about the structure of the Company. After that, I felt that the stuff I was being taught needed to be at the local level. Spending four hours learning about grooming guidelines was a bit much. :groom:
