(tap tap...crickets chirping) Anyone out there reading our PTR? October 2010

I can't believe your trip is so close!!!
I really hope you feel better before you go.

Amanda

So, with 5 left before our trip, DD8 decided to get into a fight with the bleachers at DS14's soccer sectional game today. I had just told DS5 to get tell everyone not to play under the bleachers, because, and I quote "someone is going to crack their head open", and he came out and said "Riley's bleeding". She said "No I'm not" and I look and see blood pouring down her face.

:scared1:

So, to make is short, DH had JUST texted me that he had just walked in the door from his trip (fishing with his dad and brother) and I told him to meet me at the hospital. A friend's husband carried DD to the van while I kept pressure on her head, and then God bless him, he rode to the hospital in the back seat of my van and kept the pressure on Riley's head all the way there. His wife offered to drive DS14 to the hospital after the game. The game that had gone into double overtime and was now in penalty kicks (and we missed the last 2 kicks! And we lost :( )

Apparently DD had ran under the bleachers, turned and hit a beam, then fell. 5 stitches in her forehead, a bruised and scraped up cheek, a huge knot and bruise on her shoulder, a busted up elbow and HUGE scrapes all down one leg. The doctor told her she looked worse than some of her car accident patients!

So now, her stitches are supposed to come out on Friday, and we leave on Thursday!! I'm hoping her pediatrician will take them out on Thursday afternoon. The day we leave. As if I don't have enough to do that day! :)

Not sure if this will work, but I took it with my Iphone, up close to send to the grandparents. Stitches and the bruised face. I think the bleachers won!

Poor Riley! Poor Shel! Oh man!!! I would happily take the stitches out for you, if only I lived closer!!!

Oh, no! Hope your DD gets her stitches out in time. Why do things like that always have to happen right before the trip. In April the day we left my DS decided to slide down the slide with a sharp piece of wood. Nicked his eyelid. Thankfully, it was superficial, but at that point I made both kids watch tv for the rest of the day. I wasn't taking any more chances.

Oh No!!! Poor Riley!! No kidding Devon had stitches in the same exact spot as her at the beginning of the summer... Got into a fight with a baseball bat!!! Devon lose too! I bet they will take that out on Thursday as long as it is closing. Devon had to have his is for a full 8 days. Try telling an 8 year during one of the hottest summer on record that he isn't allowed to go swimming!!! I will say a prayer that you can get the stitches out Thursday!!! Good luck and have a safe/wonderful trip if I don't get to check back in before you leave!!!

It's always good to have friends who are doctors!

My kids always do stuff like this before the first day of school, not vacation!

I will say a prayer that you can get the stitches out Thursday!!! Good luck and have a safe/wonderful trip if I don't get to check back in before you leave!!!

Thank you!

So, the pediatrican fit R in to get her stitches out Thursday afternoon, provided her head has healed well enough. As if we don't have enough to do that day!!

Kids clothes are all packed, and most of my stuff is too. DS got in his drawers this morning to get ready for school and came running down the hallway yelling "Where did all my underwear go??" :rotfl:

Today is oil change, clean out the van, change the batteries in the headphones etc. Tomorrow I have doctor's appts all day, and hope to finish all the packing, minus the stuff I can't do until Thursday.

Thursday I'll work, pick up DD and her homework, go to the doctor appt for stitches, come home and load the van, then wait for my mom to get here. Yikes!

I'm glad you got the appt for Thursday. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything is ok!!!

Amanda

Poor Riley! I'm glad they're going to take her stitches out tomorrow! And I'm so excited for you guys that you're leaving tomorrow! Can't wait to hear all about it! Have a safe an fun trip!:wizard:

We are home! We had a lovely time, and it was great watching Disney through the eyes of my mom, who became a total kid :) We did have a few bumps at the Poly :( but in the end it worked out. It will take a couple of days to start a trip report as I'm in the middle of unpacking, laundry, getting ready to coach indoor soccer starting Friday and catching up at work, but I promise the trip and dining reports soon!
