Tap shoes and blisters

DD starts dance next week. We bought her tap shoes last weekend. I am worried about her getting blisters. They are so hard and after a few minutes of wearing them the backs of her feet were red. Any tips?

Until she breaks them in I would suggest putting moleskin directly on the backs of her feet, where they were getting red and then put on her tights. Do not put it in the shoe as the friction and movement of her feet will just make it bunch up.
