I want to use a tanning product and I don't know where to start. :sunny: Anyone have one they would recommend? Or, maybe even more importantly, one they would not recommend!!! :lmao: ( I really don't want to be orange) There are a couple of new ones that I have seen--a mist and a gradual lotion. Not sure of the names of them????

My skin is light olive skin if that is important!! Just want something that looks natural, without the skin cancer risk

I should add that I have done the mystic tan thing and it is the only time in my life that I have hyper-ventilated!!!! I will never do that again!! (It did work though for anyone wanting to try it)

Love Love Love the tanning towelettes from Bath and Body Works! I use them all summer.

I really like the Neutrogena spray tan... I spray it on in the shower so I don't get any on the carpet. The can sprays even upside down, and I think it is pretty even.

I will second the Neutrogena spray tan. I use it and haven't turned orange yet. You won't dye your palms using it either.

Sunless Banana Boat Dark Tanning mist Spary. I used it today! :rotfl: Put it on, wait 15 minutes, go in the sun for abiout 10, turning occasionaly..viola' Tan!

I'm all about the Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. After I found a spot on my back from 4x weekly tanning in a booth, I decided maybe having "some sun" isn't so great. So, I tried a Neutrogena sunless tanning lotion and proceeded to turn a lovely shade of orange. Seriously. Navals envied me, and mandarins wanted to BE me. I was the Paris Hilton of sunless tanning.

Finally found this product after a local lady wrote a column about it in our newspaper. I can control how much I put on and it isn't orangy at all. I have to moisturize, anyway, so it's like a bonus.

I got the Jergens Natural Glow facial moisturizer, though, and it hasn't done as well for me...I think I'm too abrasive on my face with my cleansing routine, so use the Clinique tanning product and it has helped.

ETA: I think I used the sunless tanning FOAM from Neutrogena -- not the lotion.

:lmao:

I think the Moisturizer is one of the ones that I had heard of recently. Good to hear that you like it better than the other :lmao: Anyone else have oranginess with Neutragena?

LOREAL' Sublime is a nice self tanning line. You may have to try a few different brands before you find one that works for you, they all develop differently depending on your skin tone.
Also, exfoliate before you use self tanner, you'll get more even results.
Good luck and good for you for avoiding the sun!

Sorry, I fake bake in a tanning bed about once a week or so (just enough for the glow, not going overboard). I want to try a Mystic tan before our Florida trip, though!

You owe me a monitor! :lmao: :lmao:

another vote for the Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer.....especially since I have to put lotion on every day before I dress anyway. It doesn't take any extra time and looks very natural, not orangey at all.

I think the thing that threw me off about the Mystic tan was that I didn't know how to breathe during it--so I held my breath, unconsciously, then, when I realized what I was doing, tried to breathe and with all that mist, I couldn't!!!! It was awful. So, if you do it, just breathe the whole time!! :lmao:

Another vote for Loreal Sublime--I think self-tanners really stink, and this is the least-smelly one I've ever used. Also, I've gotten tons of compliments when I use it, along the lines of what a nice glow I have, what a great complexion I have, how good certain colors (whatever I happen to be wearing!) look on me, etc. It's ALL the self-tanner!

With most self-tanners, I recommend moisturizing beforehand, but Loreal seems to be alcohol-based (it dries very quickly), and I actually get a more even color if I DON'T pre-moisturize.

The other keys to good application are to really rub it in well (spreading it around/rubbing it in really helps with even color), make sure you wash your hands afterward, and clean under your fingernails.

Wear an old bra and panties to get a nice tan line (this stuff can stain when it's damp). Don't use the tinted version because the color will rub off even after it's dry.
