we're hiring a car from national at orlando international airport and we'll be paying for a full tank of fuel when we pick up the car, what kind of prices to people normally pay for a tank of fuel?

Hi, I'm not sure what the car companies charge but I would expect it to be quite a bit higher than when you take the car back full, I was over in Orlando last week and it cost me around $35 to fill a Hyundai Sonata to the top from nearly empty.

thanks for the info :thumbsup2 we're only getting a compact car so hopefully it will be a little bit less

when we didnt take this one year on our insurance it was around $50 for a economy car. the car hire companies do charge alot mroe than standard gas prices.

Cant you add it to your insurance package and then take the car back empty

we did it through holiday autos and took out the highest insurance but we still have to pay for a tank of fuel

We used dollar this year (through virgin holidays) and was told that we had to pre pay for the fuel on our econ car $65!!!!!:scared1:

I managed to argue our way out of it as nothing was mentioned on our car hire documents about having to pay on collection, and we was not told by the agent either so it was a unexpected shock to us.

If at all possible I would recommend trying to pre pay or taking insurance that will give you a free tank of fuel.

What a nice little money maker for the car hire companys tho!

i just checked our voucher and it says we have to pay for a full tank when we pick up the car then return it empty :sad2: we'll have to make sure we change up a few extra dollars!!! on another note, we'll be leaving the airport at 5ish does anyone know what traffic is like at this time of day?

just had a look at holiday autos seems quite expensive and all the insurances you have to add extra

Next time you visit might be worth looking at usrentacar as they included everything in their prices even fuel

we wanted to use usrentacar but because my boyfriend and I are under 25 they said there was no way of getting round having to use a credit card (even dollar wouldn't let us leave a cash deposit :scared1:) so unfortunately holiday autos was the only option we had left :sad2:

It's not necessarily cheaper to pay for the tank of fuel in advance (none of the car hire companies rent out cars without charging for the initial tank of fuel in some way) It was quite a bit more for us to pay for the insurance with a tank of fuel included (to the point where I can't believe the car hire company will charge us that much, even if they inflate the price!!) so we've decided not to bother this year, in previous years we've had to due to me being under 25. What we plan to do is ask if we can return the car full, some companies let you do this though they may require the receipt from the garage. If not we'll just pay upfront... Maybe i'll be eating my words later and wished we'd paid for the convenience but if not we'll have saved a fair bit of money :)
