Tangled: The Musical was a beautiful cross between the movie and a condensed show suitable for entertainment at sea. The actors were excellent, dancing energetic, the puppeteer playing Max the horse was a true professional, and Rapunzel did well despite having a few challenges managing her awesomely long glowing hair. The voices were strong, Mother Gothel playing her character in a bold, devious way with an edge that balanced evil step-mother and family-friendly Disney. The use of technology was splendid and a true tear jerker; I cried through the entire overwhelmingly gorgeous lantern scene. The show was one of the best I have experienced at sea and it was a delight to be one of the first to see it.
DCL did a great job of leading up to the evening with across-ship theming. There were posters of "thugs" around the public spaces during the day, a special desert menu (pic below) the night of the show, decorations and items for purchase before and after, and a great surprise where O'Gills Bar was transformed into the Snuggly Duckling. I was impressed to also receive a Broadway-style playbill in the room with names and bios of the cast and creative team.
Overall it was a fabulous presentation that was enjoyable for my entire family!
