Tangled: The Musical

Tangled: The Musical was a beautiful cross between the movie and a condensed show suitable for entertainment at sea. The actors were excellent, dancing energetic, the puppeteer playing Max the horse was a true professional, and Rapunzel did well despite having a few challenges managing her awesomely long glowing hair. The voices were strong, Mother Gothel playing her character in a bold, devious way with an edge that balanced evil step-mother and family-friendly Disney. The use of technology was splendid and a true tear jerker; I cried through the entire overwhelmingly gorgeous lantern scene. The show was one of the best I have experienced at sea and it was a delight to be one of the first to see it.

DCL did a great job of leading up to the evening with across-ship theming. There were posters of "thugs" around the public spaces during the day, a special desert menu (pic below) the night of the show, decorations and items for purchase before and after, and a great surprise where O'Gills Bar was transformed into the Snuggly Duckling. I was impressed to also receive a Broadway-style playbill in the room with names and bios of the cast and creative team.

Overall it was a fabulous presentation that was enjoyable for my entire family!

Oh my goodness! I am soooooo excited to see this next year! Thank you so much for the great review!

I got chills reading this....I love the lantern scene and song in the movie and I have teared up during that scene in the Believe show (or is it Wishes)....one of them has the lantern scene. Can't wait to see the show next time I am on the Magic.

I agree that the show was very well done. Rapunzel struggled with her hair a little. The lantern effect was nice. The new Alan Menken songs added to the program, and the puppetry used for Maximus is amazing. There is no Pascal, although they were selling little glowing chameleons in the MDRs.

Thank you for this post! Super excited as we sail in 27 days!! I hope they keep up all the extra theming, especially The Snuggly Duckling, for a while.

Ah so exciting, can't wait to see it next May.

This has probably already been answered, but has it replaced one of the other shows, Twice Charmed, Villains Tonight?

Tangled was on the fourth night of the cruise, which on this cruise was Key West. It replaced Villains. We had Twice Charmed, comedian juggler Max Winfrey, Dreams and Tangled.

While we were having dinner the Palace guards came in looking for Flinn Ryder. It was so funny. The servers got right into it too. All these extra things may have only been for the first night. It was pretty special.
This is the kind of stuff that emotions take over fiscal thoughts and makes me want to keep sailing DCL. I know the other cruise lines have a very good product but when I read this I just think I have to take at least one more DCL cruise.

I'm so excited to hear this is playing on the Magic! I was hoping it was. Thanks for the review I'm even more excited now!

I agree, I want each ship to have unique shows so we have more variety!!!

As much as I love all of the shows, I would like none of the shows to be the same on the different ships. I have never been on the Magic but have seen Villians twice and Dreams 3 times. I'm glad that at least 2 of the shows will be different when I go on the Magic.
