Tamu Tamu Breakfast & Discovery Cove Wedding ~ 12/10/12 ~ Start of Day 2

Hi Kimberly,

Happy to be following along. I LOVE the idea of a DC wedding, how fun! I have never been but it looks amazing.

Your proposal story is the best ever! That was seriously creative and anything that includes cake is just awesome. :thumbsup2

Love your dress, colors, everything. Can't wait to read and see more.

Wow, I just caught up on all of your plans.

I had no idea Discovery Cove did weddings, or even existed before reading your plans. It looks incredible!

I love your plans for brunch. Can't wait to read more.

Thank you! I think I'm most looking forward to the brunch :lmao:. Thanks for reading along!

Yay! Tamu Tamu brunch sounds like SO much fun! I can't wait to see all of your plans come together. :hyper:

Thank you! I can't wait for someone to put all these plans together :upsidedow. I watched your video on the Tamu Tamu Courtyard (which came up in my frantic search for more and more Tamu Tamu pictures) and it was great! Thanks for reading along :goodvibes.

Wow! I'm really excited about your plans. Especially the welcome party!

Thank you! I'm very excited, but getting more and more nervous by the day. I can't believe all of this is really happening!

Thank you so much! My cousin just started a Facebook group with my family members to see who's coming and where everyone is staying and they are so excited about going to Discovery Cove and that gets me even more excited.

The thing I love most about my proposal is that now, every December 26th, I have an excuse to get another ice cream cake :rotfl:.

Thank you for reading! :cutie:

My guest count is already up to 24 definites! My cousin started a Facebook Group with my family members to see who is going and where they're staying and it makes me so happy to see other people excited about coming.

And in other news, I think my credit card has smoke coming off of it from using it so much recently on wedding stuff. I'll have enough flying points to travel for the rest of my life!

I knew I wouldn't keep my Poly club level garden view room for the first two nights unless a discount came out (I mean, that's a whole lot of Mickey bars!). I grabbed up the 30% room only discount, but started debating on getting an AP for this trip and getting the extra 5% off (plus we're going to WDW in September/October next year so I would need a ticket anyways).

It then occurred to me that we're paying for the 'Ohana's semi-rehearsal dinner for a total of 14 people (I can't use the "Welcome Party" title since my brunch stole it) and quite a few other TS meals for ourselves (not to mention next year's meals) and I sold myself (a hard sell, I tell you...) on getting the AP and the TIW card.

Matt kept asking if we're eating lunch at Sci-Fi (one of my favorite places) and I told him I hadn't made any reservation as he didn't seem like he was interested in going back. He told me he really wanted to. The only available time in our schedule was the day after our wedding and I didn't want to schedule anything very early. It works out, though, because Sci-Fi only had a 1:50 p.m. reservation available, so I took it (although, I will be trying to get that closer to 1 p.m.).

Hmmm, what else... Oh, so... I made a major error. And by "I", I would like to shift some of that blame to my lovely other half. It seems I/he got caught up in inviting anyone who seemed interested or didn't fall asleep when being told every excrutiating detail about our wedding. How many people does that turn out to be, you ask? 56 people. Remember that little blip I posted before about being able to have more than the 30 people during certain times of the year? I emailed Discovery Cove and they emailed me back saying "No way" to having more than 40 people. So I either need to hire a hitman or have a plan B if I have more "Yes's" than I intended to have. I'm still not freaking out yet. If it does happen, I think my plan is to just get married somewhere local in Orlando (see: my-#1-random-place-in-Orlando-to-get-married) and then we'll all bus over to Discovery Cove for the "reception" or if it's just a couple people over the 40, beg and plead for mercy. The biggest problem with getting married at our ages is that most people we know have multiple kids. So when you invite a couple, it's really 4-6 people and that adds up.

I will have a picture of our invitations up this weekend! Time seems to be flying by and I have a little anxiety in the back of my head that the wedding is going to all of a sudden be here and I'm going to be unprepared. I had a dream to that effect the other night, but my wedding dress was purple tie-dye and I was wearing black cowboy boots. :confused3

My biggest concern is getting transportation all organized because I won't be able to do that until about 30 days before our wedding. On the invitation R.S.V.P. cards I asked if each guest needs transportation to the wedding and if so, where they are staying. This should be interesting...

Thanks for reading along! :goodvibes

Hoping you don't go over your maximum. Can your wedding budget afford teh extra cost of a hit man? XD

I purchased my earrings yesterday off of Ebay. They're coming from Australia, which means I should see them the day we get back from our honeymoon .

They were less than $30 with shipping!

I don't think I'm wearing a necklace. I'm going to wait to see what the earrings look like with my dress and then decide.

I think my hair will be half up and half down, but I'm still looking through hair photo's to see what I like.

My parents came over yesterday and I was showing them my invitations. My Dad said, "So.... We have to BE at Discovery Cove at 7:30 A.M.? Like, in the morning?!" That's what I get for inviting retirees! ;)

I also bought this BCBG dress from Ebay 'cause it went with my colors, but I don't know if I'll be wearing it for my bridal shower or for our semi-rehearsal dinner at 'Ohana's. It's called "Fireworks" which I thought was appropriate for Disney :).

This is the kind of hairstyle I want for the wedding, but with more face framing hair. I like the height and the braid. I'm still looking for a pic that's exactly what I want. So many pictures I'm finding have the focus on the braid. I want the braid to just be something small and that you notice, but not look like a trendy hairstyle.

I'm starting to do research on Matt's suit/outfit for our wedding. I remembered my brother has a gorgeous Italian white button up shirt with a pink paisley trim. I started formulating a plan to buy the shirt and pair it with a charcoal gray linen suit. Soooo... I text my brother to find out who makes the shirt and he says it's what HE's wearing to the wedding and there's no way Matt can wear the same thing :confused3. Okay... I didn't realize people would be picking out their outfits 3 months in advance. So now I'm back to square one...

Then my cousin sent me a message on FB that she wants to call me tonight to discuss something her Dad (my uncle) wants to request of me that may be "annoying" as she called it for the wedding. I can't even imagine what this might be. I've heard rumors of people wanting the wedding to take place later in the day, since 7:30 is too early, like I have control over it. :confused3

I'm still working on the invitations, but I'm starting to think it might be better if some of them never get finished... :rolleyes1

Harrumph! I think your brother should own more than one nice shirt so he can swap out his fave just this once. Does the company make a similar shirt in a different color trim maybe...?

They do! My brother owns about 4 of them, but he says the white one is his "favorite". I might try to get the blue one, but he won't even tell me who makes them as he doesn't want Matt to wear anything that resembles what he's wearing. Sometimes I can't believe we're related :(. I've tried doing Google searches, but everything I'm finding is entirely paisley instead of just the inside trim and inside of the cuffs.

Oh my goodness!!!!! Thank you!! What a wonderful website! This is perfect. Although, let's hope with all the designing options I can actually make my mind up on what the shirt should look like before it's too late to order it :). Thanks again! Matt will love this website.

Oh, great! I'm glad I could help! Just trying to earn that piece of wedding leftover wedding cake in the mail... :teeth:

Just found your PJ. Loving all your plans. What did the cousin/uncle want? Bit selfish of your brother with the shirt. Can't wait to see the photos!

You got it! :thumbsup2 Can't say how big that slice of cake might be... :rolleyes1

Thank you! And thanks for reading along! :cutie:

I have no idea! She never called me :confused3. I'm thinking maybe she found this thread and now doesn't want to call me :lmao:. I have a hunch it might be that her Dad wants to do some sort of prayer before lunch (him or his wife typically do a prayer at our holiday get-togethers). Which is fine, but I think they may be disappointed that our lunch will more than likely just be a free for all. I don't think we'll have a way to control our guests as the lunch won't take place right after the wedding and the lunch buffet is already open when we get there for lunch. I foresee people arriving, getting food, sitting in our reserved area, and just coming and going as they please. We'll just set a general time that people should be there in the final newsletter I send out. I had anticipated on thanking them for coming and all that jazz during the welcome party brunch and then just when the majority of people are there during the lunch on our wedding day. Since all of my cousins' weddings have been big events with formal receptions, I don't know if they realize mine is not like that.

My brother has always been pretty selfish, unfortunately. I'm still hoping he will be able to find a girl that will change him a little for the better. Matt says he wants to talk to him about the shirt situation (to see if he'll possibly just wear it to the brunch or something like that), but I don't think he's going to get far. Personally, I think he's going to look pretty silly as a guest in a full on suit when the dress is "beach casual".

I finally got around to booking Beaute Speciale for hair/makeup since Patricia Lejeune is not available. I didn't know what to put on the form for the arrival time so I just put that I had to be out the door by 7 a.m. When she responded (is the person that responds typically the person that does the work?), she had filled it out for 4 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. to give me time to get dressed and out the door by 7. 4 a.m.?!? I think my dream of seeing the Osborne Lights the night before our wedding just got dashed (although, I'm pretty stubborn and will probably still try to squeeze it in...).

One thing I definitely want to do is to wake up a little early to soak in the moment of the anticipated day (a la lurkyloo), but I'm afraid my only thoughts that morning might be why the @*!#? I'm up so early :teeth:.

yeah it takes longer than you think, if I remember rightly they came at 10am for my 2:30pm wedding.

While I wanted to have nice invitations, I also didn't want to break the bank on essentially pieces of paper that would get thrown away. I realized if I bought my invitations and folders/envelopes separately, I could save some money. However, this wasn't as easy as I thought. I wanted cards with different information on it (i.e. Response cards, cards for the brunch, and cards for the two dinners I have ADR's for), but places like Zazzle and Vistaprint didn't have a wide variety of sizes of cards. You basically have your 5X7 card and then the same size smaller cards.

I ordered the shimmery gray pocketfolds, envelopes, and "watermelon" response card envelopes from www.envelopemall.com for a total cost of $57 (I bought them all as samples and paid only $1 for shipping).

I designed the invitations through a template I found on Vistaprint. Then I got creative with all the other little cards and edited them for what I needed. For example, my "Family Dinner" card was a Save the Date card.

Then I borrowed my parent's 30-year-old trusty paper cutter and cut them all down to the size I needed to fit my pocketfolds. The invitations are 5X7, but so is the inside area of the pocketfold. I also picked up some blue cardstock at Michael's (which was 50% off so I got a bunch of sheets for less than $10) for the background of the invitation. I also picked up some fancy schmancy paper adhesive, but the next day everything barely stuck together so I went back over it with a glue stick.

The cutting was the tricky part as I wanted everything to look uniform and not like I had just gotten a bunch of 5 year olds together for Arts and Crafts.

Here is all the stuff in its blurry glory (I can't find my camera so my cell phone camera had to do and I'm one of the only people in the world that still doesn't own a smartphone, so it's not very high-quality):

When I was creating these I had to remember to keep the words away from the sides so I could trim them later.

Gah! A misspelling! :( Honestly, even when I saw it, I wasn't too stressed about it. No one reads to the end anyways ;).

I deleted my email address and cell phone number. Not that I wouldn't love for all of you to call and email me...

I really wanted another color, but my only choices were pink, blue, and gray and I had already used the other two. We're paying for the dinner at 'Ohanas, but not the dinner at Biergarten (well, we may, it all depends on how generous we're feeling at the time ;)) so I listed the prices of the meals at Biergarten.

They also have thank you cards that I may go back and get after my bridal shower. I was just tired of designing these things at this point.

Total cost from Vistaprint (with a retailmenot.com promo code): $82.64

My invitations (without postage) came to: $149.64

I had wanted to stay under $150 with postage, but I'm still happy with what I got for the money. I paid extra for the color backsides and extra to have a "linen finish" on all the cards/invitations, which I think makes it look really nice. I'm still finishing the invitations up, but it's my goal to have them all in the mail by this Saturday!

A couple of months ago I decided to sign up for the Southwest credit card. I had been using our Chase Disney card almost exclusively for years, but wanted to earn rewards that could be used to go more places. The promotion at the time was for 50,000 points. Our flights at the time were 26,000 points. However, I had to wait FOREVER for the points to post and they FINALLY just did today. Meanwhile, our flights have gone up to 32,000 points :(. I booked them anyways as we can always change them and get credited the point difference if they go back down (here's hoping!). So the total cost for our tickets is $79 :thumbsup2 ($69 annual fee, plus $10 for the fees they *have* to charge).

We leave early Saturday morning (December 8th) on a non-stop flight and return the following Sunday (December 16th) in the early afternoon on another non-stop flight. I have off of work that Monday, but I always need a day to get myself together before heading back to work.

I'm still looking into boarding for our dogs. I sent an email to a place a friend recommended a couple of weeks ago to ask a few questions, but never heard anything back :confused3. I've also realized that for a nice place, our dogs are going to have almost the same cost of accommodations as we are going to have!

One thing down, a million more to go! :rolleyes2
