I'm trying to get our touring plans together and am wondering a couple of things about Tamu Tamu in the AK. Is there a children's menu? Are there tables to sit and and is the seating area covered? Lastly, is it really that bad? Right now, it seems to be one of the more logical places for us to have lunch because we aren't interested in pizza, we will have been at Nine Dragons the night before and we will be in Asia before lunch and want to ride the safari after lunch.

I don't remember any seating at Tamu Tamu at all, but there is some across the way at the Dawa Bar.

What about Picnic in the Park? You would pick that up at Kusafiri, right next to the safari, and they give you a map of picnic table locations. The ones just outside the entrance to Africa (towards Discovery Island, not towards Asia) are under trees.

You know, we contemplated the picnic and you answered some of the questions I had about that too. Thank you. :) The only hang up with the picnic in the park is that we have my dh, 2 boys (ages 9 and 6) and I on one meal plan and my sister and her dh on another. A meal for three would feed our family of 4 just fine, but a meal for 3 for them would be way too much food. (and a waste of a credit for them). Do you think the meal for three would feed the six of us? How big are the pieces of chicken? I see the desserts look huge, and the sides look fairly adequate. I suppose we could get a meal for 5, but that would be a waste of a CS credit for our family of 4. I know it's not a big deal, but I hate to waste a credit if I don't have to.

We ate breakfast there one morning, and we sat around the corner behind building. (It's right behind the Baloo and King Louie character greeting area.) It was shaded by trees but not covered by an awning.

What about your family getting a meal for 3 with your meal plan and them getting a meal for 2 with theirs? I'd think that would be enough, the side is really meant to feed 3 so a party of 2 getting one would have some left over (well, we ate ours all up because it was so good, but we could definitely have had enough for 3), so the meal for 3 plus the extra from their side would probably feed your family of 4.

I don't eat meat, sorry. We did the sandwiches. I think that some of the sandwiches are the same as what Tamu Tamu serves.

Here's the info: http://allears.net/din/akpicnic.htm It looks like the chicken is 2 pieces per person (4 pieces in the meal for 2, 6 in the meal for 3).

There's a photo in my dining report, you can see we were well-shaded.
