Just thought I would post a quick review of this lens. I have the one for Nikon, just received it today. When I got home I placed it on my D50 and went out to take some shots. Ihad already told myself, it isn't a Nikon lens so don't expect it to be. Well I was pleasantly surprised. Just in the little bit I have used it around the house tonight, I can tell I will like this lens. I am sure it isn't the high quality photos that a pro would want, but a walk around lens it is great. I especially like that you have it at full zoom and still focus on items about 18 inches away. Hopefully this weekend I can take it out and get some shots to post here and let you see how it does, Well worth the money I spent for it, can't wait to take it to Disney next summer for vacation. It will be going to beach with us in a couple weeks, so I can really try it out then.

Sweet! Looking forward to seeing some of the pics... I have always looked at Tamron lenses, but just never bought anything other than Nikon yet...

Same here, but Nikon doesn't have one really with that zoom range, so I took the chance and I am glad I did, at least for now.

Sorry it has taken me so long to post samples but here are some from my recent trip to Gettysburg, PA. No post processing in these at all other than converted from RAW to JPEG. And of course anything that photobucket does when I upload them. The second and third photos show the zoom range of the lens.

I just got my Tamron 18-270 for Canon on Saturday. I am quite happy with it. Of course, I have no experience in anything other than the kit lens (18-55) and only a couple of weeks with that. Remembering that I am about as newbie as a newbie can get, here are a couple of my shots from the Ren Faire on Sunday.

I had my first attempt at panning and the last photo is an example...not really very good, but I am happy with my first attempt. I just wish I had been able to stay for the afternoon joust to get more practicing in with other settings...

Anyway, as I said, I am happy with the Tamron 18-270. I think it will be a great walk-around lens.

Ok, fixed the links so the pics would display. This is my first time linking from Smugmug and learned the hard way that it is different than Flickr :)

I put my Canon version on for the first time yesterday and so far seem happy with it. I can't wait to see how it performs over time and at Disney!

... I have always looked at Tamron lenses, but just never bought anything other than Nikon yet...

i had an old sigma( with a film slr) that was so bad it had turned me off third party lenses when i went to dslr. but i have since had a really nice tokina ( 10-17 fisheye)as well as nice tamron 17-50 f2.8 and tamron 1.4 teleconverter. all have been good. i think you just have to really pay attention to the reviews and test results for your brand, sometimes i noticed they have different results guessing due to the reverse engineering. but i wouldn't hesitate to buy any 3 party now if it looked good. and due to the much much much better warranty of some( IE tamron=6 yrs) if they have something comparable to canon , they get my money

Most of the reviews I read on the Tamron 18-270 ranked it just a little higher than the Canon 18-200 overall (obviously each lens had its own strengths and weaknesses).

When taking the 6 year warranty into consideration along with the $70 rebate available right now making it cheaper than the 18-200, it was a much better deal. :)

I just bought this lense today from Amazon. They had a price of $559.99 which was about $40 cheaper that I found elsewhere and I selected free super saver shipping. It also has the $70.00 rebate. I can't wait to try it out.
