DH and I will be flying down in January to Tampa to spend a few days with friends, and then off to Disney for three more nights. We will be flying home from MCO. We will not need a car in Tampa, but thought we would rent one as we head to Disney and keep it until we get to MCO to fly home. It seems like a big waste of money, however, to have it sit unused while we are at Disney.

I just started looking into other options to get us from Tampa to WDW. Town car? Shuttle service? Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I was never able to find a shuttle service in past several times going the same route. I've just rented cars for it. Got the best rate picking up at the St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport one year next time better rate at TPA.

A car service rate would reflect a driver having to drive one way without a fare. A Tampa driver will be driving back to Tampa without a fare.

Yep, really no good car-service option, unless you want to find a Tampa-area DIS-er who would be willing to take you when they were going anyway, LOL.

Renting a car is pretty much the only reliable way to do it, and it used to be that the major rental car companies waived drop-off fees when both the pickup and dropoff were in Florida. I'm not so sure that is the case right now, though, with the car shortages.

ETA: Didn't meant to imply that there were absolutely NO car service options, just no good ones. Getting a car service for this kind of distance on a route which is not served by the same firms on both ends gets prohibitively expensive, and usually will be limited in availability due to the time the trip will take.

There are car service options. Tampa Airport to WDW is a longer run then MCO to WDW. Longer in time and distance. Renting a car is generally more cost effective.

Not everyone wants to drive. Some people can't rent a car

is the car service company which operates at Tampa. You can book at their website.

You can call the Orlando companies and get quotes

Thank you for your responses. Thinking we might try bribing our friends to drive us instead with dinner and drinks at our resort, lol!
