For all of you that have flown into Tampa, I was wondering which car rental agencies are on site and what success you have had here on service and pricing compared to MCO? I need a larger car, minivan or SUV for 10 days from Easter Day on. Is there emerald service here? Much choice? Any help and advice will be appreciated.

This lists the rental agenices both on and off airport.
We have rented from Alamo both times we have landed there.
They are approx. 5 mins. from the terminal. National is no longer in the airport, they are off airport with Alamo. I am not sure if they have EA there, you might try the National site for that information.
I find the prices higher in Tampa. But, often the airfare is less expensive and it more than offsets the higher price of the rental.
Hope this helps.

We are flying into TPA for the first time next month and received a pretty good price from National. $169/wk for full-size and yes they do have an EA so we are hoping for a larger car.

I picked up a car on the Tampa EA this past Wed. Only Dodge Interige (Ihave no idea how to spell that) Malibus and one Regal on the aisle.

Good price Lampy, and upon reflection I did realize they do have EA service. I only stated that they are sometimes higher in Tampa is because each and every time I have considered flying into Tampa I price the Tampa and MCO option and the car rental prices have been consistantly higher.

Thanks for the EA update, CarolA!

Is the EA easy to get to from the airport? Did you notice if the full-size aisle is nearby?

I have never done EA in TPA only MCO, any other advice?

We used Dollar at Tampa airport a little over a year ago, and had no problems. The rental car counters are right across from the baggage claim and then you step out the door, cross the street and are at the parking garage where you pick up the cars. VERY simple!

Ted used National in August at Tampa Airport. You have to take a shuttle to get a National car... so he said it was kind of a pain!

You have to ride a bus to the Tampa National lot. Not too bad maybe 5 minutes. I did not see the full size aisle, but it was late and I was not really looking! Make sure you understand where the bus stop is to get to National. I met one man who waited about 15 minutes in the wrong place.

If memory serves, the bus stops are clearly marked as to where they go and what company it is. I never had a problem finding it because they were clearly marked.

Thanks guys for all the info. I usually end up with National or Dollar. Dollar has consistently good prices on minivans. I will post when I know more. Thanks again and stay warm and safe for all of you in the East.
