Tampa Airport rental cars

Right now I have a reservation for a standard SUV from National. I know they are a shuttle service from Tampa but they are the best price so far. Is it a lot better to rent from one in the terminal? Also, from another thread, I read that they don't distinguish between the SUV's in the lot. Should I just rent the small size one (Equinox) and hope for a bigger one. There are 3 adults going with 3 large suitcases and 2 carry ons and I wasn't sure if they would all fit in the Equinox

I got a really good deal on a full size car(dodge magnum or similar) through dollar for my upcoming weekend in April. I'm going to St Pete(hence flying into tampa rather than my usual MCO) to do a triathlon so I needed the luggage space for my bike box.

I am renting a minivan from Dollar for our Disney trip. They are running a special with a Southwest code, WN115. I got the minivan for $169/week.

We just got back from flying into Tampa and although we did not rent a vehicle we did notice that the line at the airport for the rental cars was very long and slow.

And while we were waiting for our hotel shuttle we noticed the National shuttle bus driving around and around waiting to pick up people.

So I think that taking a shuttle would be far quicker.
