Did anyone else catch this? What a wonderful woman! I've always been a closet fan, but never realized how much she did for the gay community!
If you missed it the show it will air tomorrow on Headline News from 11:00 am till about 11:45 am.

Tammy Faye? As in the woman formerly known as Tammy Faye Baker? The woman with the fifty pounds of mascara and makeup troweled on her face?

What is she doing for the gay community? I am seriously out of touch, apparently!

She is dying of cancer, looks really bad. If you get a chance watch the program tomorrow am. She was really a pioneer on gay rights in the Religious community!

She's an amazing person with all she has done.

If only more people were more like her! She was very gay-friendly and outspoken about gay rights even when other people weren't.

Under all that make-up she is a great woman every time i see her on TV i just cry. ( yes iam a cryer)
I live not to far from Heritage USA and to see it today would break your heart. I know it was a Christian place but i always felt welcomed when i was there and there was always family around. she loved her gay men.
I hate to see her in this shape and i hope she makes it through.
She will be missed:sad1:

Back in the day when it was fashionable to bash gays (have things changed at all? :confused3 ) she had an openly gay man with AIDS on the PTL club.

UNHEARD OF!

She even admitted last night on Larry King, when the PTL scandal happened it was the gays who rushed to her side and basically siad "It will be OK".

God bless this women!

Oh my gosh. I really haven't kept up. I didn't know she was ill. Goodness.

I never watched the PTL (or anything like that) so completely missed her support.

Thanks for educating me!

I caught a little clip from the interview while channel-surfing last night, and thought to myself -- I can't watch this :sad2: ; how could anybody put her on TV in that kind of condition?
On second thought though, maybe she still has some things she felt she needed to say. I sure hope the interview was her idea and not that of somebody wanting to make a fast buck from the tabloids.

I watched the whole thing, and yes her husband hawked her book.

I just think she wanted to kind of say goodbye to all of her fans.

It did break my heart to watch. She still has that Tammy Faye sence of humor though. :goodvibes

I didn't see the Larry King show, but I remember when she was on that reality show with the celebrities. My friends and I were surprised to her her speech at the bookstore about gays. It really opened our eyes to her and see what a wonderful woman she really is.

I saw a small bit of the interview. I knew that she had cancer but when I saw her condition, my jaw hit the floor. I too think that she just wanted to say goodbye. I remember watching her cry on my Grandma's tv as a kid.

She was an 80's icon.

The Surreal life is the name of the show and i seen it too and the Book store is what made me fall in love with her all over again.
Have you seen her son Jay Baker's show One Punk under God. Takes after his mom.

CNN just reported that Tammy Faye died. She was a fighter to the end and she never lost her faith in God.

Mom...

Care to chime in here? This is your department.

All I can say is Tammy Faye was truly a friend of our community. God Bless her for that!

Here's part of the article from CNN.com:

"...Tammy Faye has also been known as one of the few evangelical Christians who had the support of the gay community. She was one of the first televangelists to reach out to those with AIDS when it was a little-known and much-feared disease. In return, she told King in July, "When I went -- when we lost everything, it was the gay people that came to my rescue, and I will always love them for that."

And we'll always love you too, may you rest in peace.

You know, back when the PTL scandal happened she was an over the top joke in the media with too much makeup and and a tendency to cry at the drop of the hat. But she never hid and never changed. I honestly never thought too much about her either way until I saw her on some talk show a few years ago and she talked about her support for gays and lesbians. And after that she appeared on "The Surreal Life" with porn star Ron Jeremy - now I never saw that show but I thought it showed her sense of humor and her willingness to go outside the boundaries. I think beneath it all she was a truly kind person with a tremendous amount of courage and the ability to laugh at life.
