I tried to search for this, but the search option is being as obstinate as usual! Has anyone ridden the non-spinning version of MS? Is it just like watching a movie with no g-forces at all adding to the experience? And which line tends to be shorter? We love the original MS and plan to all ride when we go in a few weeks, but I was wondering what the trend is. TIA ~

We were there Friday May 19th when the "tamer" version opened. We found that more people were on line for the original version (Orange Team). We did not ride the "tamer" version (called the Green Team), but have heard from people about the experience. The centrifuge doesn't spin, but the capsules move forwards and backwards and shake, etc. More like a Star Tours-type experience.

Does the introduction of the 'Green Team' make the lines shorter for 'Orange Team'?? Last time I was there I was in line for nearly an hour, so hopefully this time I can get on a lot quicker :D:D

We were just there this week and the green team line was 10 minutes, Orange team was 45 minutes. Hubby and I have both ridden the original ride many times and we were pleasantly surprised with the new "tamer version". Hubby was on the opening team of the ride and had very low expectiations of the new version as he could not visualize how it would be...after we got off he would not stop talking about what a wonderful job they did with it. Although he does like the original better, I like the new version. You still get the motion and the G forces, you just don't get the feeling of sickness from the spin. Definetly a GREAT option for those that do not do well in Motion Simulators.

Thanks for the input, but I'm confused -- it's the spinning that creates the G-forces, so how are they created for the "green team"? I love the feeling of being pushed into the seat on blast off!

Not sure "how" they accomplished it, but you definetly do still get pushed back in your seat, maybe not as hard, but you do get that feeling. I just asked hubby, he was on the opening team for the ride... Last night he was out with 2 of his friends (also opening team) and they actually had a conversation about this... None of them could come up with a logical explination that could explain it. They have all riden the ride upwards of 300 times in it's original form and were all very impressed with the "tamer version". I say don't write off the tamer version... give it a try and see... seriously the only difference I saw in the two rides was that I was not sick getting off the tamer version...

I will ride both, I've been on the original many times, but never the new improved version. For anyone that has been to Disney since the new version opened, are the FP's seperate, or can you ride either side with your FP.?

We rode both last week. Kids said the tamer version didn't make their faces pull back like the other. All I know is my stomach didn't get queezy.

When you enter the ride a cast member asks you which do you want green or orange. They hand you a rectangle shaped paper telling which one you picked and you keep and hand to the CM when you get on the ride. You get in one line for orange and a separate line for green.

We also just did the green team this weekend and were pleasantly surprised. We actually liked that there was less pressure at lift off etc. We probably won't gp back to riding Orange after trying it. For us it was just more "fun" and not so "stressful". We waited about 5 min to get on and there was maybe 10 people more in the orange line.

many thanks for this cool info! I think I'll try the tamer option, too next time because i was feeling pretty quirly last time.
but i don't know when that will be, i wonder if i will get to WDW within the next 10 years :(
