Ok, this is something I'm noticing more and more about myself, and that as I get older, I care less about what people think... but am I crazy?

I have always talked to myself, even when I was a little kid, but I've gotten worse, and there are times when I don't even realize I'm doing it!!! Example A: I was in the grocery store last night, and was walking down the aisles, and caught myself saying, "No, I don't need that, I need the canned WHOLE tomatoes, not the crushed." And it wasn't until this nice little old lady asked me to repeat my question that I realized I was talking OUTLOUD!!

I have lived by myself now for 7 years, and I love it, but this was the main reason I got animals-- so I'd have someone to talk to besides myself. But apparently it isn't working!! Does anyone else do this? Or I am crazy?

P.S. LOOK AT MY COUNTDOWN TIMER!!! WAHOO!!!

I talk to myself all the time. It's not a sign of craziness. It's a sign of personality. ;) But you know you're in trouble when you start answering yourself. Oh, wait...I do that!

Hmmm. Well ... ask yourself. What do you say about it? :p

I don't know if you're crazy or not ;) , but Whoo hoo! about your countdown!!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

:wave2:

Nothing wrong with talking to yourself...or even with answering yourself....You know you're in trouble when you start saying "huh ? Could you repeat that ?" ::yes::

Believe it or not, it has to do with how you remember things. Certain people remember things better when they hear them, others remember it better when they write it, still others better when they see it.

I do the same thing in the grocery store ;)

I think everyone from time to time talks to themselves. You're just verbally expressing your thoughts. I notice mostly at work, my fellow coworkers (and myself included) talk to themselves. Completely normal :D

I do this all the time!! I catch myself muttering things to me! Why? I have no idea!

1st sign of insanity -- Talking to yourself.

2nd sign of insanity -- Answering yourself.

3rd sign of insanity -- Hair on the back of your hand.

4th sign of insanity (this means you are well over the edge and ready to be locked away for good) -- LOOKING for hair on the back of your hand!

:jester:

HAHAHAHA.... I read number 3, hair on the back of your hand, and started looking... and then I read number 4!!!:earseek:

I always talk to myself when I am driving. I wonder what other drivers think when they see me. I hope they think I am talking on a cell phone. Oh well, I'm good company, and sometimes I am the smartest person I have talked to all day.

I talk to myself all the time. I even answer myself.

I bump into inanimate objects and say "excuse me"

I talk to the cats and then answer for them.

I think I may be nuts

PG, #1 is normal.

#2 is polite.

#3 is typical of "cat" people (I do the same thing!)

No, you are not nuts. You are a normal, polite cat person.

I talk to myself all the time. With 3 kids I have discovered that I am the only one who listens to me.::yes::

Do you know what's really going on when a HOMESCHOOL mom is talking to herself?

Parent-teacher conference!

(Just had to throw that in. BTW, I talk to myself all the time, especially when I'm programming. One of my coworkers does, too, except that he SWEARS at himself.)

One of my sisters is a speech pathologist and she told me that they have determined that children that talk to themselves at older ages than the norm (I guess all very small children do it but most stop at pretty early ages) will also start doing it again at an earlier age (I guess everyone does it as they age too) than the norm.

I always talk to my self, and I too did it as a child.

Talking to youself is normal.
Answering youself is still pretty normal.
Answering yourself with a strange accent, pretending to be a different person, is pushing it.;)

I always tell my mom

" I dont care if you talk to yourself you can even answer yourself, its when you interupt yourself I worry" ;)

I think its perfectly normal to talk to yourself. :)
