So my co-worker comes to me today and says..."You know a lot about Disney World, Right?" Ummm...yeah.

She goes on to tell me that DD is turning 8 on April 5th and she wants to bring her to one of the Disney Parks that weekend.

I tell her that she should wait until the end of April or beginning of May. I also tell her that since we are FL residents, she could get the Play 3 ticket for $99 which is pretty close to the price of a one day ticket.

She says "BUT WE WANT TO GO EASTER WEEKEND WHEN THE PARKS ARE EMPTY!!!!"

Oh poor, innocent friend.

She was under the misapprehension that nobody goes to a theme park on a holiday. "Isn't everyone home having dinner with their family?" she asked.

I feel so sorry for people who go honestly thinking that the parks will be empty on holidays.

Could you imagine the shock she would be in if she went under that assumption and then saw the reality of the situation?!?!

Fact: The week before Easter is the second busiest week of the year at Walt Disney World.

Her daughter and I share a birthday!

I'll bet you won't be in a 50 minute line for IASW with her!

She asked me again this morning. Which Park I would go to.

None...I tell her.

I also stress that if she got the Fl resident play 3 pass she could get 3 days for about $14 more than a one day ticket. No...she can't imagine what she would need 3 days for. By the second day she'd be bored.

In the past, you have had to show proof of residency when purchasing and using the FL Resident pass.

I have family that bought them and had to show a license or other proof of residency before being allowed entrance.

If she is not a FL resident, she may have difficulty using the pass.

Also....while I'm not positive about this....I believe Easter week is blocked out when using the FL resident Play 4 tickets.

From the Disney website...

Blockout dates are February 18, 2012 through February 20, 2012 and April 1, 2012 to April 13, 2012. Passes are non-transferable, are only valid during regularly scheduled operating hours and exclude activities/events priced separately. No additional discounts apply. Proof of Florida residency is required for each adult age 18 and older.

I get this. My point to her was NOT to go during the blackout. To wait until she could use the 3 day pass. We are Fl residents, which is why I told her she could go later in April or early May and have a much better time.:thumbsup2

I know I'm not coming over as clear because I'm posting from my teeny tiny iPod, and using as few words as possible.:rotfl:

I'm a bit slow.....

I just realized that you meant that she is also a FL resident.

Duh!

Sorry........never mind.

Some people just can't understand what the parks are really about....they think it's just for little kids and that adults have nothing to do there.....so sad...well, if she goes when it's busy, she might get why you told her to wait.

My neighbor was going to go the week before Easter last year. She asked me about it and I told her it was the 2nd busiest time of the year next to Christmas.

I also told her it was doable by getting up early and getting to the parks when they open and using FP and a good touring plan.

I gave her one of my touring plan books with a sticky note on the how to use FP page and for each parks touring plan.

She handed me the book back right then without even looking at it, said it was too much work and she doesn't think she wants to bother going because they don't want to get up early or have to think on vacation.

When I saw her after Easter last year I asked if she went and she said they didn't go. They went to the beach instead. Probably a good idea for her family.

I hope your co-worker has a good time if they go.

She asked me again this morning. Which Park I would go to.

None...I tell her.

If she insists upon going on Easter Sunday, from what I understand Animal Kingdom is the best choice and Hollywood Studios is a good choice. Magic Kingdom and Epcot are the bad, bad choices.

I like your real advice. If I lived in Florida I would be all over whatever resident advantages were available. And that would include going to the parks as many times as other people don't.

Ask her if she has ever heard of a springtime ritual called Spring Break.:thumbsup2

The thought that the parks will be empty on holidays is still out there. Sometimes they have to see it to believe it.

I feel your pain. My friend just told me she is going the week of March 30. I told her itnwould be crazy crowded. She said she knows but she isnused to Disneyland being crowded. Okay.

Sometimes you just cannot get people to see reason. I find it very funny when people ask "experts" like us who go a lot and plan a lot and read and listen and then promptly ignore our advice...all you can do is be honest and then shrug. Hopefully she will listen to you and if she doesn't, and has a bad time, that is not your fault.

"Isn't everyone home having dinner with their family?" she asked.

Well, insomuch as many folks think of the LTT as "home", then yes... :lmao:

Heh... We've been known to fight the crowds on Xmas Eve, ( when *sometimes* the MK can be kind of "empty" between 11pm and 1am. Shhh ! Don't tell anyone ! :tilt:)

But Easter weekend can be just *awful*, especially if the heat and humidity is back in full swing....

(But, I still miss the parade on TV....) :guilty:
