We met talking mickey last month and the kids had a blast playing ring around the rosy with him, especially when he fell to the floor!

So this morning DS, age 3, says "I wanna go see talking Woody." I asked him what he meant. He said "At Disney World Mommy! I see talking mickey and now I wanna see talking woody!" Lol.

He will be disappointed to discover next December that Woody doesn't talk haha.

I see this as the same problem that already existed. The face characters talked but Mickey did not.

We met Talking Mickey on our last trip, and we really enjoyed it. This was two adults.

If talking Mickey goes well it wouldn't surprise me if more characters talked 10 years from now.

Talking Mickey scared the snot out of my niece though.

When they talk they become real....interested to see how my kids react.

DW and I saw talking Mickey when we went in Dec. We were pretty amazed at the experience all in all. We did the magic spell pose for our pic, probably because we didn't have kids with us.

I have to say, I like the way they did the setup too, was very private, only two families were in the actual picture area at a time. This just added to the experience.

What is this talking Mickey you speak of?? We're on our way there now and somehow I have missed this. We take a year off and EVERYTHING changes, lol ☺️

He meets guests inside the Main Street Theater just as you enter the MK from under the RR station.

There is a FP+ for this, if you like.

BTW, he "usually" will talk, but he will not "always" talk, so don't
mention the talking to any kids until you see if Mickey is in a talkative
mood when you are there.

Thanks! I guess I assumed it was the old Mickey m&g and just scanned right over it!

Mickey TALKS?!?!?! Cannot wait to meet Mickey in a few months! I'm sure this will add a whole new layer of anxiety for my DS who just conquered his fear of characters last year. I think I won't tell him and see how it plays out. MUWAHAHAHA! :rotfl2:

Yep. That's the one we went to. Just as you walk in the park on the right side of the square.

I think this case it was easier to have a talking Mickey because it's a permanent location. The CM who is in character is probably working with another operator who is choosing the vocalization based on questions you ask and interactions.

We used a FP for it because we thought the line would be long. We were surprised the wait was only 30 minutes when were there Dec 30th.

Something like that, multiplied quite a few times. ;)

Not in our case. Mickey started talking and asking me, DH was taking picture, questions. Based on my answered, he picked the "pose" for our final photo. We spend way more time with Talking Mickey than we did in the past. Normally adults get a photo and move on. Mickey did not rush us.

Does Talking Mickey respond to you by name because of your Magic Band or is it just generic banter (like "hey pal")?

Oh it was Mickey who was talking to us. we were interacting with Mickey the whole time, and he suggested the pose and asked questions.

I was referring to the "behind the scenes" magic that probably takes place. I would be surprised if the CM who is actually playing Mickey (the person in costume) was also choosing what Mickey said. I suppose it would be possible, but I'm guessing it's multiple people making that magic happen.

It was generic, but I could see them shooting for something like that long term.

It may be prohibitive for several reasons as well, such as getting names wrong, and that they have visitors from around the world, so some pronunciations may be difficult to anticipate. That would be a lot of prerecorded names.

Definitely in all cases. There is a lot of hidden magic going on in Town Square Theater.

No names. As PP pointed out, it would probably be a major buzzkill for a kid to be impressed with all that tech going on and then Mickey himself messes up your name.

If you think that's bad, BLINKING Mickey gives even adults nightmares! :scared1:

Oh, god, yes. Last year Jedi Mickey came out at the end of the Stars of the Saga show, like always, but he talked. And blinked. And it was just like the blinking Ewoks on the new Blu Rays - SO CREEPY.

IMO they should stay quiet and their faces should remain immobile.

Our family was not impressed with talking Mickey. They should at least let families go in one at a time when meeting him. We met him during MNSSHP (which was disappointing because he wasn't in a costume), and he told us a Haunted Mansion story. While the kids knew it wasn't really Mickey and just someone in a suit, they still thought the story was for them. A few days later we went back and he told the same story to the family in front of us which made the previous meeting not magical in the slightest. The kids were disappointed, and not pleased. I doubt we go back to that meet and greet. We will stick to the one in EPCOT.
