Talking Mickey is BACK!

It appears the famous talking Mickey was out again at DL. Through dapsmagic.com, I came across two videos, which - according to the uploader - have been recorded this week. Here are the videos:

Anyway I wonder if this is another off season trial run. At least we are seeing this some more and we might be just that much closer to hearing Mickey speak on every visit and possibly more characters too.

Oh my gosh that was so cute. Especially with Johnathan. It shows how amazing Disney is with each and every individual. Just makes me love it more. I really hope that they keep the talking Mickey. I would love to be able to have an actual conversation with him. For us adults it makes things even more realistic for us.

That's what I expect we will see though it may take a while.

I guess the talking Baloo aboard the Disney Dream uses the same technology like the characters in the Dream Along with Mickey show over at the Magic Kingdom. In other words, his voice is very likely pre-recorded. Nevertheless, you bet I'm excited to see this. It COULD mean we will see a talking Baloo in the parks sometime in the future.

My 5 year old asked me the other day if he talks. I told her no and she just couldn't understand why. I really hope we get to see this in April, it would be wonderful!

By the looks of the OP videos, it looks as though they are trying to test it more and more. There are other videos from almost a year ago, and these new ones of talking Mickey. But if you notice Mickey is only talking to very small Children, and or people with downs or other disabilities. So to see Mickey talking in one of the new videos by this OP, showing him talking to general people in Toon Town, I think they are close to being able to have him talking permanently. Especially now that they have introduced Baloo into a DCL show talking and blinking. They have to be really close. So exciting! Makes you wonder which other characters they are working on right now! Although I dont know how long the testing is going to go on for. So be prepared for him not to talk, just in case.

I wouldn't mention it to her. It's still in a testing phase and could be like that for a long time.

Don't get her or your hopes up. There are other fun things to experience.

Again, don't confuse the way Baloo talks with the way Mickey does. Baloo's voice is a pre-recorded track, and animated character faces have been around for years. Nothing really new there. Anyone, who has been to WDW and has seen the Dream Along with Mickey or Festival of The Lion King shows knows what I'm talking about.

Mickey's voice is generated "live" and in real-time through a voice changing device. StitchKingdom.com had an article published in May, complete with a link to the patent Disney filed.
