Talking Mickey crowd at rope drop

What is the crowd like these days for talking Mickey at town square theater at rope drop? Now that they let you on Main Street before park opening for the castle welcome show, do people congregate over by talking Mickey at all or do most people go down to the welcome show? We like to kick off our trip doing that first thing but was just wondering if the new welcome show/park entry timing impacts the crowd there.

yep most people are trying to do 7DMT or PP at RD you should be fine.

A short rope drop wait was not our experience 3 weeks ago. People did absolutely line up before park open. We went in at 8:50 and there was a 35 min long line already (on a thurs after a Wed MK pm EMH night). Tink was only 10 so we did that instead. It's low capacity and has fairly long waits throughout the day. Not to mention it's in a place that's out of the way except for arrival and departure times so I think a lot of people are having this idea. Or maybe not a lot but enough that it bogs down a low capacity M&G.

We saw huge crowds at rope drop too.

Leaving the park after the fireworks worked for us - 10 min wait!

Funny how one change affects people. When it was typical rope drop no one cared about Mickey and headed down Main Street. I guess it is just something to get in line for.
