Remember these little parts of your life that have slowly (or in some cases quickly) disappeared.

The little yellow disk that you stuck in the holes of your 45 records to play them on your record player?

45 records for that matter?

That pencil like eraser with the stiff brush on the end that you used in typing class to erase errors?

The yarn pompoms that you would tie to your roller skates to dress them up? You could even buy them at Hallmark if you didn't want to make them.

The barrettes in the 80's that had the two colors of ribbons woven in them that dangled from the end?

Pappagallo purses with the wooden handles that you could button the different color covers to?

Can you add anything?

When a video game was Pong. One little white dot bouncing between 2 white lines. Video games sure have come a long way.

Leg warmers, even when you weren't dancing.

When white socks were definitely NOT COOL!

I'm sure I'll think of more while I'm supposed to be working;)

Browneyes... or even a TV with a dial for that matter!!

Bra straps that weren't connected. The strap underneath was always coming loose and coming out of the neckline of your shirt. I wonder why it took so long for someone to figure out how to make the strap one piece?

Skate keys! You wore them on a piece of yarn around your neck and used them to adjust your roller skates to fit onto your shoes.

Most of these things are coming back into vogue! I've seen younger girls (OK, teens) buying legwarmers. Friendship bracelets, those things we made of beads and string, are cool again. All the toys, like Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, My Little Pony, etc. are back. Fashions are being recycled faster than ever now.

I remember just having a black & white TV! I'd go next door to my neighbor's house when the Wizard of Oz would come on once a year (which was a HUGE deal we'd plan our schedule around) so I could see Oz in color!

Does anyone remember those things, I think they were called Clackers. They were like two giant marbles on string and you'd flip them around but boy did you end up with bruises if you messed up and they hit you!

t.v. dinners in metal trays.

green stamps.

having to use a bottle opener on the metal cap if you wanted to drink your Pepsi.

Beachcomber hats
Dr. Kildare/Ben Casey shirts
Nehru shirts/jackets
Kilt skirts with the big "pin" in the flap on the front

To win a radio "call-in" contest on a rotary phone, dialing all but the entire last digit of the radio station phone number, and then stuffing a Kleenex into the hole on the rotary to hold it from dialing all the way until they announced you could call in and then pulling the Kleenex out (completing the call)! -- No such thing as "SPEED DIAL" back then!

"Maxi" coats and "Mini" skirts

Those were the days...

DANG IT..I had all this stuff typed and accidently clicked away from this page and then I couldnt get all my memories back....

Here are some toys from back then that I remember

Candy Cigarettes

Baby Alive

Those long bike seats..Banana seats?

My friend had a grow up skipper doll.... crank her arm and she would get taller and get breasts!! But she could only be older if she kept looking off to the left...:p

I got a big red hoppity hop for one Christmas and it was one of my favorite toys ever!!!

Inchworm..... I never had one but did ride one once!

mood rings and pet rocks..I still have my pet rock in his original box..I thought it was so cool!!! (what did I know..I was only about 10)

Remember when guys would wear pooka shells... too cool. (I thought it funny looking!)

Theh there was:

Shag carpet!! EWWWwwwww

bead curtians

lava lamps..I have one now!

I had a green vinyl bean bag chair that the stuffing finally started coming out of and it was a mess!! static-y foam beans all over the place

I can probably think of lots more, but won't make this post any longer!!!

I fondly remember so many of these thing...I think I still have some of those yellow thingies you put in your 45s in a drawer some where. And I have a multi=colored pom pom -- only it's used to identify my choir robe by hanging on a hanger.

How about 8 tracks? And the advent of those wonderful cassette players.

I remember them. I loved the noise they made. From what I heard the were recalled because the glass balls would break and get in childrens eyes.

Talk about how far we've come, can you even imagine giving your child 2 big glass balls to whack together?

How about AM transistor radios!! I never went anywhere without mine!! And did anyone have a "Swinger" camera?

Leg Warmers
Parachute pants
HIGH hair using a whole CAN of spray

cabbage patch kids

Cameras that had flashcubes (before the built-in flash) and Fotomats. If there was no Fotomat near you, you had to mail away your film and wait for weeks for the pics to come back! A far cry from all the 1 Hour Photo stuff we have everywhere NOW!
