Talk To Me About Your Success With Waitlists...

Did you talk to the front desk of hotel or member services the night before to get the room?

I'm assuming you mean on the trip where we were at a sold out resort with no reservations? For one thing, the trip was a total of 12 days, we'd made it as 2 reservations, days 1-4, then days 5-12. We flew, so we couldn't just leave early when MS accidentally cancelled days 5-12 instead of merging it. And we live 1300 miles away, so we weren't driving. Oh-and this was at Hilton Head, so there was no option to move us. So we were there-we never had to call the front desk, they knew our situation and called us regularly with updates.

I've been successful with a few nights in a AKV value studio in the past and just got 4 nights in a BCV studio for August. I put the request in right at 7 months and did 2 waitlists of 2 nights each.

I booked a little 4 night stay Dec 9-13 at SSR last night and waitlisted AKL Jambo savanna studio. The AKL waitlist came through today! 🎉

Last month after APs began being sold we booked SSR studio for 5 nights in August and waitlisted BLT lake view studio and BWV garden/pool view studio. The BLT waitlist came through in just a couple days, but I kept stalking and managed to snag a BWV garden view studio.

I have had a lot of success with waitlists. My strategy is to waitlist only one day at a time for my stay and as they come through add the next waitlist for the next days (you can have two at a time). I just did this for a 4 night stay at the riveria in a standard view studio Nov 9-13. I have 4 one day waitlist all come through. Then I just have member services combine them.

I've been stalking the availability every day and was able to switch my November 11-14 SSR Preferred Room Studio to an AKV (Jambo House) 1-bedroom value accommodation!! I'm thrilled. It's a few more points than I was really hoping to spend, but worth it to be at AKV for my first ever stay as a DVC member!!

Welcome home, you'll fall in love with AKL.

Congrats! I know that you were hoping that your first stay as a DVC member would be at your home resort, so this is awesome news. Have a wonderful stay and Welcome Home!

I was surprised today Sunday September 3rd waitlist came in akl savanna view.
I picked 2 resorts to waitlist and my friend picked okw both views to waitlist.
Now hopefully 2 two last nights come in, anywhere. Another friend waitlisted.this week I saw grand Floridian open up 4 nights in a row Labor Day week days the park view.
Gone within the day

I have been on the wait list for one night in Sept before my stay at BW. It has been on there for weeks. Hope it comes through.

We've had pretty good luck with waitlists coming thru over the years. I also usually book right @ 7 months so have optimum advantage in that respect as they are filled first come first served. We've had BWV, CC, AKV, RIV and most recently VGF fill. I am usually going for full 7 n weeks. I always book something else to be sure we have something. For the VGF res that just came thru for Sept I also waitlisted RIV and had everything set to expire 31 days out but I was in a similar situation about banking (by July 31st for us) so had a reminder on my calendar to cancel both waitlists by then to avoid wasting any precious points.

I have a trip booked in Nov for 8 nights at SSR
I booked at the 11 month window.
I also waitlisted the first 4 nights at BCV same time I booked the original stay.
Four days later I booked the other 4 nights

6 month later both are still waitlisted....

I don't expect to see any change in status until 32 days prior if any

The other waitlist came thru for the same night :)
We piece that trip together adding nights as waitlist.
Today I sent an email asking for services to link together so we won’t have to move hopefully :)
Now deciding should we buy MNSSH party tickets for Friday night.
DD has Florida pass so no weekends. I had a one day hopper ticket so we are going to hop Sunday for her. And we have water park tickets for the Saturdays.

I have 2 active waitlists for the same night at the end of February to replace a night at AKV that was the only resort available other than SSR.

One of the waitlists I submitted in early June that has still not matched at PVB.

Currently looking for any studio on 11/3 at WDW.. it unfortunately also happens to be marathon weekend.. wish me luck 😭
