Okay, so we've cruised a few times but only in concierge. We would typically go to the concierge lounge and get a drink before dinner and then bring those drinks down with us. Is that not permitted if you are traveling non-concierge? Can you open one of the bottles of wine you bring aboard yourself in your stateroom and then bring a drink down? Or do you have to bring the whole bottle down and pay the corkage fee? And if you DO bring down the whole bottle, do they store it for you to serve the next night if you don't finish? Or do you bring it back up to your stateroom?

You can bring a glass down from your stateroom. I believe they will store it for you for the next nights. At least they do if you have the wine package, so I assume it would apply if you pay the corkage fee.

Technically, the rules prohibit you from consuming wine brought onboard anywhere but your stateroom or the MDR after paying the corkage fee. It is therefore against the cruise contract to open the bottle in your room, serve yourself a glass and walk about the ship with it. BUT how will they know you didn't buy the glass from a bar ? Many have reported on this board they do it all the time without being worried by staff.

If you pay the corkage fee, they will keep the bottle just like any other bought onboard. You can ask to bring it back if you wish to do so.
