Talk to me about Star Tours

We didn't go on this during our last visit but I would like to give it a go this time provided it's not too scary. Could someone give me a brief summary? I've had a look at the DLRPmagic site which doesn't give a lot of detail but does put it in the Big Thrills category which puts me off a bit. I'm not a fan of scary rides (ToT, Crush etc are big no-nos for me although I may try BTM this time) but is it that bad? As far as I tell it's some sort of simulator with some sort of built in motion/vibration?

Can anyone fill me in? I want to try as many rides as possible but don't want any nasty surprises!

Star Tours is not scary at all! While you do get bumped around a little and the 3D effects are really well done, it is more of an adventure. Picture a car chase in an action movie...

Trust me, you will have a great time!

I am a total wimp on rides. I can just about manage log drop rides and at DLP I find the second drop on Pirates of the Caribbean is scary enough.
I love Star Tours. I do have to hold on to the arms of the chairs and how kids with short legs can get through it without their feet firmly on the ground is beyond me! :flower3:
You should definitely give it a go. :thumbsup2
After maybe 12 visits to DLP and to celebrate my 40th while we are there- this visit I will definitely be trying out BTM (maybe):rotfl:

The whole thing is a simulator (like the small ones you see at theme parks and amusements). So your individual seat doesn't move, the whole thing does. It tilts backward, forwards and sideways quite dramatically and some people on here do get a bit motion sick. But it is definitely fine (not scary) in my wimpy opinion.

Not scary, but a bit bumpy! Try and sit in the middle if you get a choice! Also the queueing area is brilliant for Star Wars fans, plenty of photo opps!

I sat at the back far left last time, which I've since read is the worst seat on simulators for bumpyness. The time before I was in the front right and couldn't see the screen properly.. not having much luck with it!

I'm quite a wuss too but I love Star Tours. I think so long as you don't suffer from motion sickness you will be fine. You probably won't enjoy it the first time as you'll be apprehensive but then you'll be wanting to get straight back in the queue! That's what I was like the first time on Big Thunder Mountain, I went all the way round with my eyes tightly shut as if by not seeing what was happening it wasn't :lmao: but the first thing I said when I came off was let's go and queue again so I can enjoy it this time! Now it's my favourite ride! ::yes::

This ride scared my son to death on our first trip to DLRP and he was about 10 then :crazy2: but since then we have been many more times and we always have had fun :goodvibes

As suggested try to sit in the middle if you can: in the back row you feel the bumpiness a lot more and in the front one can hardly enjoy the whole thing...

I think it's so hard to judge - as what is scary to some is not to others. Taking my Daughter (age 4) as a great example. She screamed and cried on BTM - but absolutely loved Star Tours, it ended up being our most visited ride!

In my opinion, it's definitely not scary - but it just jerk and shake you around a lot so isn't really suitable for anyone who gets motion sickness. I hope you do get to go on it, it's a great ride! :thumbsup2

My 8yo is TERRIFIED of coasters, but he LOVES Star Tours (he thinks it is a coaster, and I won't dissuade him of the idea).
