We did not get memory maker because we plan to take our own photos. But, I was thinking that it would be nice to get one or two photo pass pictures of the whole family together. How does this work? Do they scan my magic band or do they give me a card?

Thanks!

They can do either - scan your band or give you a card. In MyDisneyExperience (I know on the web site, not sure if you can get to it through the app) you'll be able to go to the My Photopass section to see any pictures taken of you, including ride photos. You can buy individual downloads for $15, so if you think you'd purchase 11 or more, the advance price of the Memory Maker makes more sense than individual purchases. If you are given a card vs. getting your band scanned, it will have a code number on it that you enter on the My Photopass page to make your pictures appear.

You can also hand your camera to a Photopass photographer and ask them to take your picture for you with your own camera - they are happy to do this, and it bypasses the whole purchase issue.

We also didn't bother with Memory Maker since we brought our own camera. They just scan your band whenever the photographers take your pictures and they're all put online for you to purchase them. We also gave the photographers our camera a lot and we got lots of great pictures that were taken with our camera. After the trip was over I reviewed all the pictures and selected two shots (one Magic one where they added Darth Vader and one in front of the camera that looked better with their camera) to purchase for digital downloads. I think I spent $30 total on photos.

Thanks for the info, that sounds perfect! I definitely wouldn't buy 11, I'm thinking 1 or 2. It would be fun to get a magic shot, so maybe 3 lol! I will definitely give them my camera as well, that's a great idea. I'm so excited, we have less than a month till our trip!
Thanks again!

I have a question about Memory Maker and would appreciate some input. I have a group of six adults and want to purchase Memory Maker. We're all on one reservation so everyone will show up on my MDE. I think they use your magic band when you get pictures taken. Will everyone on the reservation be able to use their magic band to add pictures to the package or will I need to use only mine since I'm buying the Memory Maker package?

Trying to figure this out; this is our first time using MM. Thanks for your help!

Others will chime in with details, but I've read a lot of threads on here where people share one Memory Maker package, so you can link it to multiple bands to use the same acct.
So you will be just fine with everyone in your party sharing and taking photos on their own:)
