Talk to me about FP+ for parades and shows. Worth it?

From what I understand of FP+, if one of our 3 choices is a show in the evening, we can't make additional in-park selections until after that time has passed, correct?

So are the viewing spots worthwhile and really cut down your wait for the parades and shows? Finding a spot is one of our more stressful disney activites because DS (autism) loathes the wait and tight spaces. From what I'm reading, the entire FP area for fireworks is opened up hours in advance, so that leaves me wondering. Are we still guaranteed a spot if we only show up 20 minutes prior? And will that spot be better, just as good, or worse than a spot I snag elsewhere 20 minutes prior to showtime?

Yes, you will be able to get in 20 minutes prior to the parade and the spot you get will be better than just about anything else you would find on Main Street at that time unless you got extremely lucky.

No. Save your fast passes for rides. You can see fireworks in the sky from anywhere and the parade isn't that much different.

1. Correct.
2. MSEP FP spot is great for MSEP. Wishes FP spot is great for Wishes and Celebrate the Magic.
3. Up to 2 hours before.
4. There will be room.
5. See #2.
If you show up in the Hub or on Main St. 20 minutes before Wishes, the likelihood of a good viewing spot is very low.
And, the crowds will be THICK.

We did the FP for Wishes back in May and it was definitely worth it. Viewing spot was great and it wasn't wall to wall people in the area.

We did FP+ for the FOF parade this spring. It was a great spot and view. My only complaint is that it was HOT - you're right out in the direct sunlight. There was plenty of room and we were right on the curb. We entered probably 25-30 minutes before the parade, and that was more than enough time. I'm planning to do FP+ for MSEP and Wishes on our next trip this fall - it will be dark so I don't get sunburn. :) For me, it's worth it to avoid the stress and anxiety. I'd rather wait in line for attractions, or schedule FPs for attraction on a different park day.

Is there a map anywhere that shows the FP+ areas for parades and Wishes?

Yes. I don't know how to link directly, but there's a thread called 'FP+ for Wishes and MSEP in the same day?' in which multiple photos have been posted. It's on the first page of the theme park threads.
