Talk to me about dapper day crowds...

We are thinking of going to the DLR next fall during dapper day. How are the crowds? Better the week leading up to it or the week afterwards? I know the weekend itself will be busy but what about the weekdays?

Expect it to be very busy. They are moving next fall dapper day to November instead of September, so it will be cooler, but not cold and that beats the sweltering heat of September. The heat didn't stop any this last September, it was extremely busy. I've been to 3 dapper days (two spring, one fall) and only one was kind of mellow, spring 2014 because it rained most of the time. It was annoying, but the crowds were nice.

Usually when they do discounted hotels, it's the two weeks around it, so both could be busy. Same with tickets.

So much for our tentative November trip next year. Do you know what dates yet? I'm not sure it's worth a discounted hotel room to have crazy crowds.

Dapper days are Nov 5&6 next year. There are discounted onsite rooms the weeks before and after that weekend.

I don't imagine the crowds will be solid all two weeks. Likely they will be worst that weekend and the couple days around it. Hopefully?

I am trying to go for 5-6 days with a 5 day PH. Planning to do only half days in the parks most days, which should help with the crowds.

How far in advance to they offer the room discounts?

They are available now. They do have a 1 night NON-refundable deposit, however. You can likely switch dates around a bit but to cancel entirely would mean a loss of $200-300...

It's fine except for the actual Dapper Day. That day is PACKED. But we take advantage of the hotel deal every year and the days leading up are just regular, typical crowds. The day before might be a little busier but nothing crazy.

That sounds great, grnflash. We likely wouldn't plan to be in the parks the whole day on the actual dapper day. Just long enough to people watch, not to have an actual agenda.

You'll be in great shape then. The hotel deal is too good to pass up and you will not be sacrificing much crowd-wise outside of Dapper Day itself. Have fun planning your trip

This last Dapper Day (Sept) was crazy busy from Thursday through Sunday. I have never seen it so busy on a Thursday before! and it just kept getting worse!!

:headache:

I believe I read here that this past Dapper Day the parks was at capacity on and off that afternoon and they weren't allowing people in a couple times. FYI.

I wonder if it'll be different next year since they moved from sept to nov. Less chance of DD coinciding with fall breaks and Halloween time.

Thanks for the information on this. I was ready to call and put down a deposit when I realized the reason we want to swap to November next year is to see the holiday stuff. I think we will have to check in a week or so later.

Everyone enjoy all your great hotel deals!

I am so glad they moved the fall date to November for 2016. I was concerned that DD would be during our trip this September. Out of curiosity though, are both parks packed during DD or just DL?
