I am trying to decide whether to make a reservation here. There is an opening one night we are there, late at about 45 minutes before Wishes. So I am guessing if I made the reservation, we'd likely be in when fireworks go off.

I am paying OOP though will likely get a TIW card for the trip. But the steep price of the place puts me off. I have also been reading some really mixed reviews. And the menu looks...okay. I'm not sure our palette is well rounded enough for some of the garnishes, lol (swiss chard ).

But then there is something to be said about going inside the castle and seeing fireworks go off! Like I said though, the price is steep!


I'd like some more feedback. Anyone been there for a late dinner? I can't seem to find a lot of late dinner pics.

We like Akershus. What about the Wishes dessert party instead? I have been to CRT two times and both times I swore it would be the last. The princesses are there for like 2 seconds. It's busy. You're rushed. We won't be back (or so I say that now....)

For characters? Akershus. For fireworks? I'd look into other options. Plus how much can you really see out those back windows?

Like any restaurant there are a zillion different experiences/opinions that people have. I have eaten breakfast at the castle about 8 times over the years with my kids and now grandkids - always seated down by the center windows - love love love it - never had a bad experience - Princess interaction has always been sufficient for us - kids love meeting Cinderella and the little wishing 'show' (more like a 'moment' lol).

Summer 2010 we did lunch for DGrDs 7th b'day. Seated up on the side against the wall. We weren't thrilled with the food or service that day. Not a great experience, but DNeph enjoyed it enough to request it his next trip.

This past July I took DNiece(11) and DNephs(13,14) for their first trip and they really wanted to eat in the castle. I scheduled dinner - and read so many bad reviews and was so shocked at the cost that I almost canceled several times - DH reassured me that he was willing to let the kids have the experience even at $60+ each so we went.

It was a big WOW for all of us - best meal of the trip - they LOVED it! The sun was setting as we ate and the colored sky in the windows was so beautiful. The kids ate everything on their plates - DNiece celebrated her b'day - and DNephs flirted with the Princesses. Wonderful server. So much fun - I still had to swallow hard when I got the bill - I did have TIW which helped.

So I guess my point is that you never know what you'll get on any given day -young kids could be very tired at a late meal. I think it would be beautiful to see the fireworks from CRT - depending on your table location - you won't really see the show - you have to be to the front of the castle for that, but still pretty out those big stained glass windows.

We went in July late dinner hoping to see what you can of the fireworks. Our family of 5 got seated at one of the two tables in the entire restaurant that can not see the windows!! UGH!! I started to get a bit upset and then pulled back into... relax its vacation and what is meant to be will be mode.

The food was fine... nothing too great... our server was really sweet.. and the princesses were very nice.

Just before the fireworks began the people at the table next to us (that could see the window) left and no one was seated there. When the fireworks started my three children (ages 22,17 and 9) moved over so they could see the windows... I could only see the room light up .. but towards the end there was one moment where the room lit up with an incredible light.. brighter than any before. Everyone went ohh... and the look on my 9 year olds face was priceless! (if I had been able to see the windows too , I probably would have been looking out and missed the look on her face)

If I were you I would go for it.. the castle is awesome and the "fireworks" impressed my kids . (although you can not see them in the same way you do from outside)

On our first trip (about 12 years ago) to WDW and first day of our vacation in Magic Kingdom, we had a breakfast reservation. This was a huge thing because we only dined at two places during our week long trip-CRT and Tony's because of the $$$. Of course, the best part was the view and atmosphere, so we didn't eat much because of all the excitement looking at the rides, etc. The food was "okay", typical continental breakfast food, but then again we're not breakfast people.

IMO, you have to do it once in your life just to say you did it. My advice would be to do breakfast and have fun with it!

I'm with everyone else in suggesting breakfast here over dinner. I actually did my college program at this location, and breakfast is a lot less rushed and when I was there (last fall/winter) it was also all you can eat! All of the meals have the princesses come around for pictures/autographs, as well as the photo package with Cinderella, plus you can head straight out to the park afterward!

The thing about the fireworks/dinner situation, is that there can be no guarantees. Even if your reservation is 45 minutes before the fireworks, things often get behind, especially since the dining room is so small (42 tables!) and the parties that are in the seating ahead of yours are trying to stick around to see the fireworks as well. I don't want to make excuses for Disney or anything (lol), the waitstaff won't really kick anyone out of their tables out of courtesy, which can push the later reservations back even further!

Also, there are 9 tables directly next to the windows, and they can't be guaranteed (because of the scenarios mentioned earlier). Even then, if you did score a table, you don't have the best view of the fireworks, since they are so high above the castle. Seeing Fantasyland light up is really beautiful, especially with the fireworks from the rooftops shooting off and making everything change color (quickly became my favorite part), but that's what you'll see best from the dining room.

I'm not sure when you're going, or if you have any other nights you'd be viewing Wishes, but I'd second going to the Dessert Party. Right now, Disney hasn't announced an end to "The Magic, The Memories, and You", which is a fantastic projection show and totally worth experiencing. And as always, the best view of Wishes is always in front of the castle!

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to skip it. I'd really like to do it but honestly, not having a window view during fireworks would break the deal for me. If there is no way to request it, it makes sense not to even bother or I'm setting myself up.

We won't do breakfast. My DH and 17 year old twins are just NOT morning people at all. I already have 2 other breakfast ADRs so if I made a 3rd they would consider it torture. Plus we have done all the rides a bajillion times so don't need to be at the parks early.

We only live an hour and a half a way and we go a LOT with our passes. But in January, we are staying at Bonnet in a 4 bedroom presidential for 1 week. The only TS we have ever done was when my twins were 5 at LTT with characters (SOOOO mad the don't have that anymore). They don't remember it really. And now my 3rd child is turning 6 that week so I am looking for anything really special. Especially since he has never had a character meal.


I do have ADRs for O'hana (breakfast and a dinner), 50's PTC, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Boma, Garden Grill, and Crystal Palace for lunch (which I am really not sure of). On his birthday I have Chef Mickey's for breakfast and the Dessert Wishes at night. We have never done any of these.


CRT just sounded really cool, I mean....how often does one get to go INSIDE the castle?? But the menu looks way too froo-froo for DH and the kids, nor do I have any little girls for princesses.

If I cant think of anything else, I will just keep Crystal Palace. But the reviews are just so mixed. I'd love to do something around Illuminations but from what I am reading (again) there are no guarantees of a spot. And I am not one to camp out and compete for areas.

If ya'll can think of anything I am missing, let me know. Otherwise I'll just keep CP.

What I am looking for on this trip....to make my youngests birthday special, to make it special for the 17 year old twins (boy and girl) because they are graduating and going off to college soon *sniff* , to eat something besides counter service, and to just relax and take it easy.
