However, we are considering August (August 8-22) for our trip next summer for a couple reasons:
1) hoping crowds may be a bit lower than what we would experience in June
equal if not more crowded. however around middle of august local schools go back into session along with 44 other states so it does thin a little but it's not uncrowded..
2) it will allow my husband an actual break, instead of just finishing work for the year and a day or two later hopping in the car for a 3 day drive to Florida to go tour theme parks (college instructor).
I like longer trips, with more time, crowds are less impacting.. you can always just go another day and you'll be going in and out shorter amount of time.
My concerns however are more weather related: I know that August, especially mid to later August when we would be going are getting into the thick of hurricane season. What are the odds of getting a bad storm/hurricane when there? What do they do if that happens? Is there any reimbursement for tickets? What about general day to day weather - is there much difference between June, July and August? Is the heat/humidity really that much worse in August than June?
Dont' worry about it. sept is the most active month. Most storms miss central florida and I think in the last decade or two there might have been 2 or 3 days that impacted the parks. you might see some more rainy afternoons here and there vs the 20 minutes but overall it'll be the normal 20 minutes and the rain is done.
But where we are we get very high humidity, so the humidity was typically the same, and often less in Florida, than we were used to where we live. My mother in law lives in Saint John, and they don't get the heat or humidity that we do, so she definitely minded it more. We were so prepared for it to be horrible given everything we've read on here, but we really didn't find it that bad at all. Definitely hot, no question about it, but we found it very manageable.
We were down there during Hurricane*( Forget the name ) & it came through almost to the day, as Katrina did many years ago, & even with that we only lost a 3/4 of a day....
. Basically was saying with longer trips the you can abandon plans based on crowds because you have time to come back and try it again.
