Talk me into AKL :)

We are just back from 9 days at AKL and, for us, it was the best bus service we have had in our last 5 stays there. The only bus we waited more than 10 minutes for was the return bus from Disney Springs, but we think that was a freakish thing since Disney Springs was PACKED!!

AKL is our favorite resort and we are already planning our trip there next year.

You didn't make a mistake but let everyone else think you did. It'll keep the reservations down some so the rest of us can book there when we go!

Will do ;) I will come back and tell them all how right they were and what an awful trip we had :)

Thanks guys! I feel better about going there now. Phewww :) Hearing some positives about the resort is awesome!

AKL is, by far, my most favorite resort. It is peaceful, calming, and beautiful. There is SO much to do at the actual resort, as well.

We have never had bus issues there, either. If we need to wait, we park our butts on a bench and listen to the piped in music. And, people watch.

The bus rides never feel like we are far out...farther than our next favorite, Pop...yes. But anything that adds enough time to our commute that I actually notice it? Not even a little bit.

We just booked our third stay there..

I LOVE AKL, and I own a few points there. (Actually, of the two, I prefer Kidani. It's one of my favorite places to relax. <3) Anyway, I was just down there for a conference, and I stopped by both Jambo and Kidani just to get a feel. I too think that the 'remote' theme is over-used, but hey - that's fewer people going! I hope by deluxe, you mean savanna view!

My husband and I rented points once for a short trip between Christmas and new years. Great resort. My husband hurt his back before we left, so we didn't spend any long hours at the parks, but we never waited for buses, even during that busy time. We liked it enough that we are going back next year with our grandchildren. It's a beautiful resort, and I thought that the bus service was just fine. Have fun.

Can't be beat. Stayed there in September - rented points. It was such an amazing experience to see the animals every morning while sipping coffee. The CM's are wonderful, rooms clean - the lobby is beautiful. Great pool. There is no reason not to stay there.

It's been several years since we've stayed there so things may have changed but we had a good experience with the buses. The pools there are really nice too. We also really enjoyed Boma's breakfast. I think my son ate his weight in gluten free Mickey waffles.

We are planning our next stay for Kidani Village, i hear it has the best pool and really does not look that much farther on the map than okw where we usually stay. Plus okw has so many bus stops.

We just got back and spent 3 nights at AKL. One night we left open to explore the resort and have dinner at Sanaa. The bread service is fantastic, I highly recommend it, we did all 9 dips and 5 breads and it was outstanding. You can order it to the room too ;) I think there's a 20% upcharge but honestly that's not bad!

Unfortunately it was rainy that night so they did not have the night vision goggles out, but there was an area outside (this is at Kidani) to view the animals with night vision goggles at night, and rocking chairs around a campfire.

They have tons of stuff to do. I wish we would have planned more time there. I really wanted to do the culinary tour but we missed it.

And Boma breakfast was fabulous. FRENCH TOAST BREAD PUDDING! With pecan praline sauce!!!!

Whatttttt? That sounds amazing! I can eat my weight in those instead of mickey waffles!

Just want to chime in and say, AKL is an excellent choice. It is a beautiful resort; fun to explore inside and out. We had a balcony and l loved sitting out on it whenever we were back at the room. Especially in the morning when my wife is still tucked in bed. I would have my cup of coffee in hand and watch out over the savanna. I didn't find the location too remote and we used only WDW transportation. As another poster had typed, it can be hit or miss whichever resort you are staying at but most of the time buses were running on time for us. We loved dining at Boma it is my second favorite restaurant, right after Ohana at the Poly. We loved talking with the CM that were spread out on the paths to the savannas. Fun to find out where they are from, how they found their way to WDW, and what do they plan on doing once they are home again. See if they still have cards on them with information which country they are from.

The people who get all fussy about the AKL buses miss part of the point.

AKL isn't a place to sleep for a park warrior. If you're a park warrior, stay at POP or an All-Star.

AKL is a destination resort. You stay at AKL to spend some time ON resort. This isn't to say "don't hit a park," because duh, it's WDW. But there is so much to see or do AT this resort that you could stay there several days and never leave the grounds and be content. This isn't the case at even the mods you mention, really, because they lack things like "signature dining," "amazing non-signature dining," and, dare I say it: GIRAFFES OKAY.

That is one of my home resorts. I don't know why people think its far but let them. Buses are better than other resorts. It is a beautiful resort. So much to see and do. If you get a chance go over to Kidani. Sanaa is a great restaurant. When we first stayed at Jambo we immediately bought our points. Will be there over the Xmas holidays. Enjoy. Have a happy anniversary.

I agree with the vast majority of what people are saying about the resort. I will add this....does the resort theming appeal at all to you? If not, then maybe you want to pick something else. I've stayed everywhere on property except for the cabins and GF and AKL is definitely top 3. The lobby is amazing and there's so much to do at the resort, most if it is free. I highly recommend the Boma culinary tour and talking to the guides at the different savannahs. The hallways can be very long BUT at least you are indoors and not in the heat or rain.
