Talk me into a cabin.....

The thread will die if warranted. This one however ...well, enjoy your weekend everyone. Try and keep track of the kids.

Simply, I know the OP has in the past camped at Ft. Wilderness. I don't know about whether it was an RV or what, but I know she camped. She is personally finding the choices for a family of 5 limiting in Disney, and investigated the cabins, having stayed previously at the fort and liking the fort. Her reply was I know a knee-jerk reaction.

Almost every 4th or 5th request on the resorts board for information about a resort is--"Talk me into __________" be it any type of resort location.

I am sorry you all thought she personally though low of Ft. Wilderness. I can assure you she does not. However, the replies she has recieved here has probably turned her away from the fort completely. I know they have for me, another person with a family of five also in the past interested about the cabins. No longer, I assure you, if I am going to feel unwelcome there.

ETA: And I love how people ASSUME the laziness of another person. This is an anonymous board and people are reading too much into her question.

The fact that the Resorts Board has every fourth or fifth message saying "talk me into" doesn't speak well for the Resorts Board.

I have a family of five and have been to WDW before so my street cred is not in question.

I mean, with 6,000+ posts you would think (and this is just me) the OP would know how the DIS works.

Does the OP have any specific question they'd like to ask?

Bama ED

PS-thought I'd get this in before we get locked.

All I have to say is WOW. Most internet boards have drama, but I guess a good snap into reality is needed sometimes. Even Disney boards have snarkiness!

As a newbie, but a jaded soul that expects the worst at times, I totally did not see the OP being rude or coming here with an agenda, but since we are cabin dwellers at this time, my opinion may not count much. :lmao: This little guy indicates sarcasm. Do we get extra points for roughly 200+ nights in the Fort in a Winnebago in the last 10 years before our last lowly trip in a cabin?? :worship:

Like me or not, I ain't leaving. I love the Fort just as much as anyone else here regardless if I haven't posted more than my little "teen digit" number of postings. And, just for the record, our stays in the cabins for the next 12 or so months is CAMPING to our family just as much as our Winnebago was -- may Sweet Betsy RIP.

And, just so that I'm laying it all out now......ROLL TIDE!

Snarkiness?:lmao: (inside joke)

If you think we are snarky, I would advise you not to go on any of the other forums!:scared1: This group is mild in camparison. In fact, about the only thing that riles this group up is the whole "convince me to stay" thing. Even that, if it's from someone who is new to the boards, will get a serious and informative answer. Since you are sticking around, this will all soon make sense to you. ;)

I even stated that maybe we "jumped the gun" (as in a knee jerk reaction), but I guess only the OP gets that as an excuse. I typically don't get involved in these disscussions as I don't have enough experience at the Fort to be informative to others. I do more reading (for informational purposes) on this side to be better prepared for my next FW trip.

However, I love the obnoxious community board.;)

Seriously. You will not stay in a cabin because of what someone posted on here. It is not that they post it has bugs or smells or something negative about the cabins. Disney welcomes you and your money at any resort.

Ok, not really....I don't need to be "convinced" to stay at the Fort!:goodvibes

But I know NOTHING about the cabins.

Anyway, plug the cabins for me!!:thumbsup2

People, look at the thread. Did all of you get beaten up in high school? Cmon, this speaks of your insecurities. " ..move along, nothing to see here"..says the officer

OP, don't feel bad that you got jumped all over. You DID NOT ask to be talked into the Fort (you stated you camped there before), rather the cabins. I got jumped all over about a week ago (even got several private messages) because I asked for help convincing my DH to drive to the Fort since he had never towed a trailer that far. I got as many helpful responses as I did downright hostile ones. I stated that he had towed trailers regularly for decades but never as far as the Fort and just asked for any imput or suggestions on how to make him more comfortable with the long tow. I got a few responses that, so helpfully, told me that if he wasn't comfortable they wouldn't want to be on the same road as him, instead of giving me any useful information to pass on to him. Despite the nasty PM's I got, we are still going to the Fort next summer, will proudly hang our green mickey heads and we will enjoy ourselves no matter who else is at the Fort! Don't let posts from strangers on a message board dictate what you do on YOUR vacation!

Fail.

Again, Does the OP have any specific questions?

Bama ED

Are the loops fairly quiet? They seem a good distance from most amenities; we'll have our bikes, so are there bike racks at places like the pool, the marina, etc.? (sorry, I should know that but like I said, it's been quite a while!).

The OP did ask some specific questions. I would help her out but I haven't been to the Fort yet.

Ok, not really....I don't need to be "convinced" to stay at the Fort!:goodvibes

But I know NOTHING about the cabins. My Fort experience is limited to campsites and it's been many years at that. I have read all sorts of facts and info on them, but there's nothing like first-hand experience, kwim?Feel free to "search" the cabins through this forum. There is a ton of information and even pictures of the cabins. Also, look for trip reports of people who have stayed at the cabins.

Are the loops fairly quiet? It depends. We cannot possibly know who your neighbors may be at the time of your visit. I've only camped at the Fort once and had no problems with loud people or loops. However, I have read on here of others who have had extremely loud and obnoxious neighbors. And suprisingly, it was not members of this board. Imagine? They seem a good distance from most amenities; we'll have our bikes, so are there bike racks at places like the pool, the marina, etc.? There are bike racks and since you have bikes, getting around the Fort should not be a problem. A golf cart rental is always a possibility.(sorry, I should know that but like I said, it's been quite a while!).

We're looking to spend a bit more time at our resort on our next trip, and I think the Fort is great place to do that. I also like the idea of the separate bedroom.....DH and I can get up in the mornings and move about, make coffee and let the kids sleep a bit.

Anyway, plug the cabins for me!!:thumbsup2

"LegoMom3" ,, "Talk me into a cabin....."

no.

Frank, how obnoxious and UNhelpful of you! :lmao:

Exactly!:thumbsup2

No, I did not get beat up in high school therefore, I guess I don't have any (or at least many) insecurities. But, to make you feel better, I have answered the questions the OP asked.

Now I'm going to bed with a clear conscience. Good night all. :cloud9:

Unfortunately the regulars in this forum have seen this type of question many times, and usually it isn't presented in a positive way. Meaning that often a poster thinks less of camping, and needs to be talked into it. :sad2:
I understand and share the frustration of the regular fiends (as we're known as) in the forum who find that offensive.

That being said (flame suit on..but)...I don't feel the OP had that intention.:flower3:

I had more the impression that they wanted a sort of "refresher" course on FW. Came across to me as if it had been a while since they've camped and wanted some recent input on the Fort and in particular the cabins. ::yes::

That being said, having stayed in both camping loops and the cabin loops, I found the cabins loops to be some what removed from the many amenities that the Fort has to offer. I prefer the camping loops for that reason. You will need to use your bikes, or even rent a golf cart. While not necessary..either will make getting around the Fort infinetly easier. Yes, there are bike racks available to you at the marina and both Meadow and Trading Posts. While the cabin area has a pool, there is no lifeguard. Likely your children will enjoy the newly renovated themed pool:beach: near the Meadow Trading Post better. You may want to consider renting a golf cart ..even if only for a day or so. It's wonderful way to see the campground and to do some "looping"..checking out the other camping loops. The campground offers a campfire/sing along with Chip and Dale each evening. Personally, I've never been to it, but others here highly recommend it, and I'm sure you're kids would enjoy it. :wizard: There is no charge.
Additionally, nightly you can view the Electric Water Pagent from the shores of Bay Lake at the marina. The kids will LOVE this. Shortly afterward, the Magic Kingdom Fireworks can also be seen from this location. Magical way to end the evening.pixiedust:
If you are able, you might want to try to include the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue dinner show in your plans for the week.

Didn't your mother teach you that if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all??? seriously.. Are you all that Snarky that you can't be polite? Really... if you've seen the question a million times and it bothers you, then just move on and don't even bother opening the thread. I look through things briefly for answers. Sometimes it's faster to ask it again.. That's what these boards are for. If she was a regular on the camping forum, then she would already know her answer and wouldn't have bothered asking. I have a family of 6, so looking for a place to stay on property is limited I was considering the cabins as an option, I never stayed there, and would be curious how things work.. No need to be rude. I don't know if I would want to stay there if people feel like those who aren't regulars shouldn't bother.

Go, have fun. You'll love them! Forums are great for backseat drivers. You won't run into anybody saying "I was the jerk on the camping thread".. Nobody over 15 anyway..

Well, you might want to stop beating a dead horse. Perhaps you didn't notice, but I did address the OP's inquiry, and as much as said that I didn't agree with the initial interpertation of the question by other's in the forum.
That being said...we haven't heard from the OP, and you don't seem to be able to move past this. I think that perhaps my fellow fiends may have been correct and that perhaps this wasn't a legit question.:confused3 I certainly hope not, but if we're all supposed to be adults..then let's be just that, and move on.

look out, here come the soccer moms and their cell phones and latte's to ask all the questions....

Talk about stereotypes..... jeeze... grow up already.....and for the record... none of my kids play soccer...
