Tales From The Bite Me Zone, Panda's Pity Party

Do you do the NE Regionals Y meet? We are hosting this year :sad2: our 3rd one and my DD's last year (her statement not mine). :rolleyes1

Oh, and anyone who thinks we are :offtopic: has obviously never spent the day driving to, sitting through (on lovely wooden bleachers) and driving home from a gymnastics meet. It gives the BMZ a whole new meaning......:sad2:

I think that between the lousy weather up and down most of the east coast and the time change (which means it is dark so freaking early) many of us in this part of the world are hitting the BMZ.

I COULD not drag myself to the gym last night. It was cold, wet, and windy so I crawled into bed early and read a ook unti I fell asleep. Today is just as cold and wet and once again I am dreading going out tonight just to torture myself on the treadmill and crosstrainer.

BTW, my name is Kim and I just re-started the couch to 5K program after a knee injury that had me laid up for two months. Good luck to those of you with children participating in so many after schoold activities. Mine are still too young so I have not experienced all of that fun yet.:rolleyes1

Welcome to our insanity Kim, glad your back at it.

Happy panda:hippie:

Thanks, Panda! I need all the support I can get. I want to love running but am not at that point yet. I still find it to be more like a slow painful death but I am working on the attitude...:flower3:

I've been in the BMZ for 2 weeks now. Wish I was alone but glad I'm not if you know what I mean LOL Motivation has been hard to find lately. I might find it at 2 pm in the afternoon sitting at my desk thinking a run sounds lovely but by the time I get home and into the dark chilly evening I'm thinking other things sounds lovelier. Getting my tushie to the gym has been bad these 2 weeks. I'm still getting in but not as much as I should.

I had a good Dr visit last week and some kind words from a co-worker yesterday all pointing to the direction that the efforts have been working but I'd rather snuggle in with a book and cocoa right now LOL

Another yucky sky out there now and I'm dreading any miles I have to do this evening with DH. Right now it's DH getting my tush out. If I don't I know he won't and he's just starting out on a exercise routine. Can't stop now or he'll slide off. the only good thing, I get out there and race my 2 miles to get back into the warmth LOL

And enough is enough. I'm returning to the world of the Half in 2009, this marathon training is for the birds and the PANDAS :upsidedow

Hope everyone else finds their way out of the BMZ and if you do kindly send me a map and leave the bread crumbs for me to follow :flower3:

:grouphug: TOTAL BMZ for me. That's my new favorite acronym btw LOL! Started out for my 6 miler yesterday and at 3.7 got very ill. Fortunately the body aches and pounding headache have subsided...but training is a no-go today. :sad2: I hate when my weekly training goes awry. I still have to teach a pilates class tonight...ugh  ....but life does go on right ;).

As for those of you facing child-activity-induced BMZ...I feel your pain. I'm guessing the gymanstic meets are similar to the day long, blazing heat of a travelling softball weekend tourney. :scared: Ahhh the sacrifices we make for kids.

I hope all those feeling  or :headache: or all around :guilty: .....have a much better day tomorrow. Hang in there peeps! ;)

Dear AmyBeth, I have the weekend long softball tourneys too. :sad2: In fact, we are in the midst of 2 hour pitching clinics bright and early Saturday mornings. And, yes, I am the DC (designated catcher). :)

Oh goodness!!!! We have the batting clinics LOL...but thankfully my DD isn't a pitcher. For one thing it must be SO nerve Wracking but I'd imagine squatting down like that for pitch after pitch is not good for mom's training ;). Good for her though that she's so involved. Just so hard on the parents!

I have been in it also for the last 2 weeks. Hurt my shins last day at WDW and in week 2 of PT with no training at al. Knee that needs surgery constantly hurting too. Need to lose 5 pounds that gained the last month of having too much fun and too little exercise. Joined IV Rec Center today and started trying to drown to help keep some kind of shape while unable to walk. Depression and Doubt reign here at my house.

Looks to be this way for at least another 3-4 weeks:sad2:

Okay, I'm going to bravely step up here and let you know that I have miraculously alluded the BMZ and will fearlessly hop on my treadmill (her name is Millie, by the way...get it?...treadmillie?) tonight for the prescribed 4 miles and KICK BUTT in honor of all of you BMZers. Not to worry...this devoted WISH soldier has got your back! Who else is ready to push a little harder and/or a little further today on behalf of the BMZers? C'mon - time to take one for the team!

Karla

:grouphug:

So I went to the gym for some treadmill time and just couldn't get into that either. Little things like nothing good on the TVs to watch and static from all of them on the speakers anyway. I've found that the best thing for days like this is just to say to heck with it

Yes, Grasshopper. Today is not the day to "grab the pebble from the hand." Step back, take a day, realign your chi :hippie:

Thanks Karla! Good to know you faced down one of those nasty TMs for us :yay: Hope the miles sped on by :)

Robert I hope the pain diminishes soon for you. Till then don't forget your ducky inner tube and enjoy splashing around :) umm I did read that right that you are using the pool at the new rec place?

Steve LOL

Tomorrow is another day hopefully the BMZ will fade away :wizard: but at the very least it will be FRIDAY!!!!

Diane: That is right that I am doing some swimming, if you can call it that. I do half laps(no deep end for me:eek: ). I have slight asthma that I feel slightly here at 6380' elevation when walk training but could hardly breathe will doing my half laps today. Might have to get an inhaler again.

The Rec Center is a privately owned by the residents of Incline Village. It is a beautiful place with lots of nice equipment and pool. Expensive for all to join(including us resident owners)

Okay, today, I am officially fighting my way out of the BMZ. Armed with my Panda hug, refusing to give into the evil forces surrounding me (and the rain that is turning to snow in a couple of hours) I WILL banish myself to the basement and give a full 45 minutes of sweat for the cause. WISH Army unite....... :grouphug:

Good morning Lisa, please find the post I did thanking you and Karla for keeping the faith and showing us the way out of our BMZ.

Pretty Princesses and Jedi warriors, you ladies rock!!!

Inspired Panda:hippie:

Grab a snowball and join in!! I very much dislike being banished to the basement for TM time but I dislike squishy cold sneakers more!!! :lmao:

You know you are in the BMZ when your children voluntarily play outside rather than be in the house with you! Missing training makes me angry at the world. stupid flu.

Yesterday, I actually had a NR (NonRunner) friend say to me " isn't it nice to take a break from all that running?" she said it with a smile on her face. Do you think she was serious?! I didn't hurt her. You'd be proud of me. I just sighed and said "no, I LIKE running." I did not mention the 30 or so pounds she could lose if she walked to her mailbox once in a while, or any of the other 30 awful thoughts I had about her in those few seconds. I have the FLU you idiot! nothing is "nice."

born2bird - It takes a long time to "love" running. And when you do, none of your non running friends will understand. Hang in there! I hope it gets better soon.
Princess runner and Amybeth - I have 2 dd's that play softball. One is easy since she usually plays 3rd base and really only needs batting clinics. The other is a pitcher. This child requires one extra thing that I must do at every game: Every inning that she pitches, she comes back into the duggout and throws up. It has become comical now that we expect it and are prepared. So I not only spend hours squatting, but I also have to remember to bring her "special" bucket. (Her coach painted a trash can gold for her after she pitched an almost perfect inning in a critical game.)
Scuba diver - you have a wise little gymnast. Listen to her.
Steffwalks -OH have I been there! We moved into our house in August and the biggest relief was that I no longer have to spend hours a day listening to Dh obsess over every minor detail. We built this house(technically we had someone build it for us) so he got to obsess about everything from doorknobs to paint finishes. This is definately reason to be in the BMZ! :)
Panda -Thanks this is fun! So often we try to sound upbeat about our training. Especially to those wierdo non runner friends that have no understanding of what it is to train. So it is nice to have a place where it is legit to complain!

Cecilia

Cecilia: To your NR "friend"

:scared1: on your pitcher!!!!!!!!! Mine is pretty composed I have to say and is more the grit your teeth until they crumble out of your head, you won't hit me again, type. I don't know where she got that from....:rolleyes1

I used to be insulted by my MIL as she would be very put out when she did not get to exercise (she is 64 BTW and runs 3 miles daily, lifts 3-4 times a week, and teaches water aerobics) but now I understand. When my DH throws a monkey wrench into my plans and I cannot workout, I not so kindly invite him to the BMZ!! :snooty:

And for your flu:pixiedust: get well soon!!!

Oh the BMZ!
I am in it NOW! I think it is just a lot of hi mileage training. I love running, but I am dreading my LR this weekend...and it is only 12 miles!

THe biggest BMZ came in 2003 when I did my 22 miler! I can't even talk about it. It was BAD! I walked most of it..... This is when the BMZ phrase was introduced to me!:headache:
