Is anyone else obsessively checking for reservations to drop for Takumi-Tei? I would love to snag a reservation for our trip in late December!

I am obsessively checking for official news of it reopening. Going early February and this would be at the top of my must-dos.

Seems that the rumor posted on WDWNT about opening in November was false. Or at least there are still no other sources reporting anything.

The lack of any movement since the WDWNT article is leading me to the same conclusion. The only thing giving me hope is that they are not a Disney owned restaurant; so one day, they just may go "SURPRISE!" we're open!

Takumi-Tei was my favorite restaurant experience at WDW so far. I really hope they reopen before my February trip!

IF you find it let me know! I was SO EXCITED when I saw the WDWNT article, but the dead silence since then leads me to believe that either it was just a rumor... or it was wrong. I wish they would follow up on it though...

son of a GUN! Yeah, I think it was a rumor.... but if you did that, and the comment got deleted, and they still have the original article up.... maybe its still true......

Well, of course it did! WDWNT is all happy to stir up popcorn, but we're no where near allowed to call them out on it!

During our trip during the first week of November, we talked to a cast member at the Japan Stand across from the restaurant. He told us that Takumi-Tei was going to open soon - he implied by the holidays. But he said to do that, they were re-training the servers from Tokyo Dining and it would be closing for some sort of revamp.
- And that is on the webpage now: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/epcot/tokyo-dining/
Beginning November 20, 2022, Tokyo Dining will be closed for refurbishment. The location is expected to reopen in the summer of 2023. Check back later for more details.
They are hiring lots of cooks on their website, but that includes all the restaurants in the Japan Pavilion. https://www.mitsukoshi-orlando.com/takumi-tei/

Thanks for the great update! Do you think they'll reopen on the 23rd or do you think December is more likely?

If they have been training the staff all this time - which it sounded like they were, then I would think the 3 days between Tokyo Dining closing and Takumi-Tei opening is reasonable.

This would require a rework of my Epcot plans & some shifting of the budget but WORTH IT!! I’d all but given up on December but y’all have me hopeful again
