Has anyone here ever taken their boat while staying at HH? If so, please tell me about the marina and if additional reservations are needed for your boat. What is the boating like around HH?

Thanks

As far as taking your boat to Hilton Head is concerned, you might want to contact the Harbormaster at Shelter Cove. In the past there have been spaces available for short term rental by boaters who are cruising the intercoastal. There is no room for a boat and trailer at the resort itself and I have read on this board previously and I think it's posted at the resort that boats and trailers must park off-site. Shelter Cove has alot of permanent residents but would work fine for a short term stay if they had availability. As far as boating,----typical of anyplace along the East Coast. Access to both the intercoastal waterway and the Atlantic. There are boats of all sizes and shapes at both Shelter Cove and Harbortown but I'm guessing that Shelter Cove would be the more reasonable for rental and probably the best chance of availability.

HH Disney has several slips available in the marina for members and /or their guests. These slips are available free of charge.

A few years ago DBF was sailing the coast and met me at Hilton Head. I can't remember if I made the marina reservation through member services or through the resort itself, but there was information in the guide books somewhere that gave details. I think it wouldn't hurt to call the resort itself for information.

While we were at the resort, DBF did not use his boat, just left it in the slip, so I can't speak to boating in the area.

Hope this helps.

Get familiar with the waterways before your trip. The tide swings can be upward of ten feet. I’ve never been boating in the area but it sounds like a great vacation.

Call the resort and ask for Recreation. Speak with Alisa. She is great. As soon as you have a reservation, you can reserve a slip. They are on the Resort side of Sheltor Cove and do not have hookups, only water. The two are 40 and 50 feet long if I remember correctly. Yes, they are free to members staying at the resort.

Thanks for all the help, guys! Really looking forward to this trip...it will be something totally different as we've never had a coastal vacation.
