Taking your dessert to go

I was wondering if the TS restaurants allowed you to box up your dessert to eat later? I usually love the desserts at the places we eat but I'm to full right then. Then an hour will pass and we are sitting for the fireworks and I'm wishing I'd gotten a dessert. Anyone know if they let you do this?

In several restaurants, We were so full from dinner, we declined dessert, and the server tried to convince us that we paid for it, so we might as well have it. They offered to pack up dessert for us several times.

We've had our desserts boxed up many times---have never had any problem with doing this at any restaraunt we've been to.

not only did we get our dessert packed to go for us, but we ate it the next morning for BREAKFAST ;)

That sounds like something I would do. ha ha ha

we did this several times in Dec 05
all the restaurants were very accomodating as at 2 of them we werent gonna get dessert but they were like you can get it to go

i had my slipper dessert boxed up for me when we ate at the grand floridian cafe :)

Thanks so much all. I knew we'd done this prior to the dining plan but didn't know if it had made the request so popular they'd done away with it. Yay to my dessert with my fireworks!

Yup, Sticky Toffee Pudding from R&C and also CRT's chocolate cake (this was before the characters-don't know if they still have it) have been excellent breakfast foods!

I am glad I came across this. I would have never thought of boxing up dessert. :confused3 And sounds like breakfast of the champions to me.

If you get a boxed dessert to go, (or any "leftovers" for that matter) do they have disposable cutlery available too? I am a big desert eater at breakfast, but I do need a fork for my cake :rotfl2:

I was a very lucky WD fan last Oct on the dining plan. I ate at the Derby with my DS7 I was given a desert for him and I was contemplating which desert I wanted it was between 3. I finally made up my mind I got the Celebration. IT was SSOO good. When I paid the bill. I also used my DDE card for drinks and such. I was handed a paper bag with handles like I went shopping. LOL It contained one of each of the other deserts. I know these were not on my bill. I told the waitress this and she just smiled and walked away. :wizard:

I ate one while watching Fantasmic and my DS and I snacked on the other at the pool the next day.

for those interested I am getting the dining plan again and using it along with my DDE card this May06 vacation. It is very worth it to me. I use the dining plan for my dinner and the DDE for drinks and that which is not covered with the DP. I have had waitstaff say "why no use the DDE for you DS dinner and save the TS for another TS for U." Yes I admit it I did it last Oct. I lost track of my TS and needed one more for a 2 TS dinner. The CM told me no problem. Yes I did feel guilty until I bit into the wonderful steak. LOL Then I didnt care if they charged me or not.

i'm not sure if the TS restaurant has any to give you, but you can get a fork at your resort's food court...

another thought... a coworker brought me her dining plans to review... she has a 4:30 adr for lecellier on the night they plan to watch illuminations... i suggested that she get their dessert boxed and enjoy it while waiting for/watching illuminations, because by then they may be hungry again :sunny:

I usually pick a few up (and some napkins) at a counter service place to keep in the room.
