I am just curious when everyone did their group shots & bride & groom shots?? Before wedding, after wedding?? If you do it after the wedding how long did you take for pictures? I want to get a lot of different poses and really get my money worth from the photographer :) Most of everyone that is coming to my wedding is in my wedding or the person they are with is in the wedding or family members but 6 of them. My question is how should we handle taking pictures after the ceremony?? I dont really want to have a pre-reception if only 6 people are going to go.. For those who didn't do a pre-reception and people hung out while you were taking pictures did people get mad??

Any feedback on pictures after the ceremony and when to take the pictures would be great... Also, for those of you who used Randy how long does he usually take for pictures? I figure the more pictures the better :)

Thanks

Well, I we did pictures both before and after. DH refused to the the reveal, so the pics before the wedding were of each of us with our parents, BM/GM, and other individual pics. After the wedding, we did pics together and with the entire group. We didn't do the prereception thing either for pretty much the same reason. The post wedding pics took maybe 30-45 minutes, but we also were waiting for Wishes to start and get some of those pics.

Because DH refused to do the reveal, we also hired out Randy for an extra hour after the reception for just DH and I pics. I didn't feel that we would have enough time for pics of just he and I between the wedding and the reception. It was really nice. It gave us a lot of extra pics (some of my favorites) that we wouldn't have had otherwise.

DH and I did a first look, so we had time to take our pix together before the ceremony. We didn't do any photos with anyone else til after the ceremony.

Like you, we had a small group of guests, and we wanted to get pictures with all of them. So we spent about 20 minutes after the ceremony posing with each group before we all went to the reception together. We still had a nominal pre-reception of about 40 minutes before we did our first dances and started brunch, but we prolly could have just started that as soon as we all arrived at the reception site.

One thing about all of us taking pix together at the end, I really wish I'd desgnated someone to run this. I thought people would mingle at the ceremony site while we quietly pulled groups out for pictures, but instead everyone sat back down in their seats and looked to me and DH to run the show. So we just started calling out names "Bride's family! Groom's siblings! Groom's parents! Some random guy who I don't know who he is! [he turned out to be my friend's date - oops!]..."

I felt pretty awkward about it, but at least we got great pictures with everyone!

We are purposely leaving a gap between ceremony and reception for all pictures. I may take a few solo before hand. But fam, bridal party and just fiance and I will all be done between ceremony and reception.

If you are leaving a gap between wedding and reception for pictures, how much of a gap? Has anyone done this yet, what do your guests do during that time?

Not to highjack or anything but if we are staying at different resorts to get ready.. me @ gf him @ pop how does that work with photography? (we are using disney)

DH stayed at CBR, and I was at the WL. Our photos were taken at the WL. DH and his guys took a taxi (didn't think about their transportation until the day before...oops :headache: ) to the WL. From there we did the limo to the WP.

We left a gap of 30 minutes. Our guests all took pictures with us.

We took all of our photos after the wedding. It's all sort of fuzzy now, but I *think* that since our ceremony was at noon, it ended about 12:30, 12:45 (including cutting cake, first dance, yada yada). Our lunch ressies weren't until 2:30, I think, so we spent the first twenty or thirty minutes doing group pics like lurkyloo mentioned (tip: like a nerd, I had created a spreadsheet in advance and gave it to Randy, so he could call out each person's name because yeah, no one would've paid attention otherwise!).

Then half our guests headed over to DTD to Portobello's (we had the limo take us over in shifts as we wouldn't all fit at the same time). I think I told them to order appetizers if they were munchy, but no one was. In the meantime, DH, the second half of our guests, and I walked from the Yacht Club Gazebo up the walkway to the Boardwalk, with Randy stopping to take some pretty cute pics of just DH and I (the guests trailed behind). The limo picked us up outside of the Boardwalk and we rejoined the rest of the crew.

HTH!

DH drove from his resort to mine for our first look and photos.
