Taking walk ups at Skippers Canteen today?

I think the menu looks interesting.... it says "head on" shrimp.... do you think they are really going to serve the shrimp with the heads on them - like eyes and all??? That would be a deal breaker for me! I don't like my food looking back at me!

Someone posted a link to an imgur account with the meal earlier in the thread I think. They had the heads on them.

I'm with you that's one thing I won't be ordering. I get its popular overseas (helps show freshness I think?) but yeah I really don't like it. Heck I don't even like dealing with the lobster shells.

In my experience, some jokes from Hostess, but not much from waitstaff-the jokes are definitely not "rapid-fire" like Jungle/Jingle Cruise.

Get the Mac and Cheese.:)

It's got meat in it doesn't it? That eliminates it for us, but thanks.

The difficulty is that their wording is ambiguous or easily misinterpreted. Whether it refers to when the reservations are *made*, or when the reservations are *for*. Now that an official opening is announced, I suspect we will hear more soon.
I'm just going to keep checking daily. I don't trust anyone regardless of what is meant or said by anyone. :hyper2:

The menu looks very interesting to me. There are a number of things I would try, for sure. I agree it's not very exotic but it's not exactly the standards either. Definitely hoping to get an ADR for my February trip.

Thanks! I will be going with the steak...lol

Then perhaps it is safer for you and your family to stick with restaurants that have a menu that your members can tolerate. It is too much to ask every restaurant to provide every item that every family might want. That's why online menus are great. You can choose the restaurant that is right for you.

I think the average American family has a much less picky palate than you think. Otherwise why would there be the plethora of ethnic restaurants flourishing all over the country?

I could say the same thing about people who have allergies, but you see Disney bending over backwards to accommodate that population. Selective eating due to developmental disorders is just as limiting. Why don't they seem to care as much about that population?

Look, I am completely FINE with skipping restaurants and ending up where there is food my kids will eat. Trust me on that. Story of my life for the past 12 years.

And I am FAR from picky. I am Hispanic and grew up LOVING stewed cows tongue, brains, and rice with squid, which I ate happily from the time I was very young. I have eaten almost every kind of food (and I have things I like and things I hate, just like everyone else).

My kids, however, do not share my adventurous palate. This is now the second restaurant at MK (after BoG) where the kids menu AND the adult menu has NOTHING my kids will eat. It just sucks.

I was simply hoping for a more family friendly option in MK (as in, put some darn Mac and cheese or a hamburger at least, on the kids menu).

Every other restaurant in the MK is a "safe" restaurant with foods most picky eater will like. Is it bad to have one place a little more adventurous? Does every place have to have chicken fingers, pizza, hot dogs and Pb&j?

I think it's nice that MK is branching out.

Sorry that is just not true at all. BoG has none of that. Pecos Bill, nope. Liberty Tree? Nope. Tony's? Nope

Plaza Restaurant is the ONLY TS at MK where a kid can get a burger. One of mine won't eat pasta (at all) or pizza. As a family, Plaza Inn is our only TS option in MK. That stinks.

And the only CS where burgers are sold in MK is Cosmic Rays.

I just looked at BOG, LTT and pecos. They all look to be kid friendly to me. Mac and cheese, grilled cheese and tomato soup and pb&j mixed up in the menus.

They can't please everyone. Every restaurant won't please everyone. Some are going to say why isn't there pizza or what isn't there a burger or why isn't it adventurous because their kids are sick of burgers.

I'm not a big seafood person but my boyfriend is. Every now and again we will go to a good seafood spot and I'll make do with the menu. It's just the way it is.

This exact same thing happened to my mother in law last December at MVMCP in the handicap seating area. She ended up on a gurney and we ended up leaving and searing off MVMCP for ever. Hope you're feeling ok.

At our MVMCP same thing happened to me! I don't understand the angry scooter people.

If you want a burger or chicken tenders, go to a burger and chicken tender place (i.e.-Plaza). Maybe where I live is different, but I expect a restaurants children menu to be a direct correlation to the adult menu. It's like this for ease of prep in the kitchen and to minimize inventory/food wastage. I don't go to a Mexican restaurant and expect a pizza. I don't go to a Chinese restaurant and expect a burger.

The other MK restaurants have mac and cheese, grilled chicken, grilled fish, steak, meatloaf, pizza, spaghetti and meatball, and grilled cheese on their menus. That's a nice, wide selection. I've seen most of these meals with my kids and they are not in any way adventurous. In fact, they are quite plain and boring.

I agree.

If my kids only ate burgers or pizza and it was that important to me I would go to where they served those foods. I can't imagine anyone in the MK going hungry. Picky or not. If I wanted to eat at SC that badly and I just knew my kids wouldn't eat there I would feed them ahead of time and expect them to behave while the others enjoyed their food.

Ooh yum, that is how we eat then in Brazil. Super yummy. (I am Brazilian, but live in the US and am an American citizen)

I'm sure they are tasty.... I'm just weird about food... I like all kinds of flavors, but I don't eat a wide variety of proteins... and none that look back at me! I love shrimp, but they need to be fully "prepared!"

I totally understand, it takes me a little while to get back into eating the head / tail and shell when I go back to visit. I just saw there is Guarana on the meu, I am excited for that too!

Well, now that we see a menu, nothing DD will eat. While it looks interesting and is shiny and new we will keep our CP reso. I ain't mad at ya Disney
