Taking the water taxi from MK to Wilderness Lodge

Hi all,
I am trying to make an ADR at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. We will be at MK that day and hope to take the water taxi there and back to MK so we can return in time for the fireworks. Our ADR is at 4pm. How long does it take to get to WCC via water taxi from MK? Any tips on taking the water taxi we should know? I've never ridden on it before. We have 2 small kids and will have a stroller so I'm hoping it's an easy way to travel.

The ride will probably take about 10-15 minutes if I reacall correctly. But, allowplenty of time t walk get to the boat and all the way to the restaurnat. I would allow 1 hour travel time...just to be safe...

I'd plan 45-60 minutes for travel time.... depending on how long the wait for the boat is and walking time. You can also walk over to CR and take the boat from there to WL.

Yeah - if memory serves me correctly the bus is faster, the boat is more fun

The bus may be faster... but the boat ride is great. We stayed at WL a couple of years ago, and took the boat to and from MK - and it was so relaxing! IMO, it really puts you into a vacation state of mind when you travel by boat:

Last December the actual boat ride was about 15 minutes (from dock to dock, according to the time on my GPS), but you should allow extra time to walk from MK to the dock (that's pretty close) and then from the WL dock to the WL (that's a longer walk). Overall, I agree with the PPs that allowing about an hour is a good estimate.

That's incorrect. Bus service between MK & WL is direct and non-stop.

The bus stop is much closer to the WL lobby than is the boat dock, so about 35 minutes is enough time to allow for bus transportation from MK gate to Whispering Canyon.

We love the WL. In fact we love it so much it is our first DVC home! The boat ride to MK is a shortm very enjoyable ride. Several times we were riding as the EWP went past. It was great.

I think 45 minutes is more than enough time to get to your dinner ressies. Have a magical trip.

Last month we did WC for lunch from MK. 15min wait for boat, 15min boat ride, maybe 8min to WC. No small children or extra baggage we move pretty quickly. It was a nice ride, I do recommend it. I would allow an hour.

If you have the time I would highly recommend the boat. the sight seeing is phenomenal!
