Taking the princess to see her castle!! Trip Report finally started!!!

Everyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE control freak. I like everything to match. Is that too much to ask? I dress my boys the same each and EVERYDAY. So far they haven’t complained, so I feel I can get away with it till they do. Even if I don’t lay it out my boys come down stairs matching. We are not sure who decides what they are going to where. To make it easier I usually have it laid out already.

Here’s some proof of my craziness:

Poor DD being the only girl doesn’t have to match. But she does have a rather large stash of hair bows and has been known to have a frightening amount of Gymboree. God love Gymboree, they are designed for controlling moms like me. If you need a coordinating outfit or accessory they’ve got it.

Well this brings me to luggage. It has got to match!! Or at least the boys have to match. Prior to this trip all the kids had a black Embark (from Target) rolling suitcase. They were really cheap. The suitcases had been fine for the last three years because we never checked them. Well for some reason I decided to check one of them on a trip to Las Vegas. That’s all it took, the one we checked came back to us with one of the wheels broke. Now it doesn’t stand upright anymore. My fault, I should have never checked the cheapo bag.

This past weekend after looking at ROSS, TJMAXX, and online I settled on some blue Rockland carryon rolling suitcases.

IMG_4770.JPG

If it was up to me all three kiddos would have the same bag. When things match, I feel like things look less cluttered. Laugh if you want but that’s just how I am. I shouldn’t have brought DH and DD. DH found DD a bright pink Samsonite hard shell carryon. He put it down for DD to try out. Then he asked her opinion!! Um… she’s two …so you can guess what we came home with.

IMG_4781.JPG

I tried to show her a different one. She wanted nothing to do with it. (I see many fights over stuff while shopping in our future.) She wanted the HOT pink one. That is her favorite color. She has DH so tightly wrapped around her little finger. He would have never asked the boys opinion. Good thing we only have one girl. I would lose all control.

I did manage to get a larger bag to check that matched the boys. I am now trying to justify getting DH a matching one too. Now I just have to find a bag for me. I know I have issues. But my issues and I are going to Disney!!!!

NEXT - Day 2 - Part 1

:rotfl: My mom LOVES Gymboree too! That suitcase is BRIGHT pink! Hopefully she'll still like pink when she's older, or else you might have to buy her a new suitcase! I've noticed that parents seem more lenient with the youngest children. If we took Thing3 to look at suitcases, we'd probably be coming home with a hot pink one too! :rotfl:

I hate to say it but the younger kids get it easier because the older ones wear us parents out :rotfl:

But in this case DD got her way because DH is wrapped around her pinky but he better watch out because he might just create a monster :scared1: and my boys always give DD her way too. I see trouble brewing:rotfl:

I'm the oldest and my mom likes to tell me that I was the "test child" and since I turned out okay they can be a little more relaxed with the younger kids! My youngest sister tends to get her way too!

Joining in!
I'm from NC too! Piedmont Triad area here, what about you? I can't wait to read more about your planning.
I love DD's suitcase! My DD is 2 1/2 and she will be using a hand-me-down from her aunt.. It's a Boo suitcase from when Monsters Inc. came out. She used it for our beach trip a few months ago and loves it. :)
Your ADR's sound great, I can't wait to book mine. Oh and your kids are adorable!!

Followed you over from my PTR, so now neither of us are talking to ourselves!!! LOL!

You guys go back to school Aug 4!?!?!?!?! They riot up here if we go back before Labor Day. Inface, last year we did go back before Labor Day and this year it will be after LD...see, the riots worked!

We have eaten at Nine Dragons and enjoyed it. The 1st time was nice as we needed to eat someplace for lunch and had no ADR, so we went at 11am and they took us right in. Our 2nd time there we had an ADR and I can honestly say I was not in a Chinese mood, so I didn't enjoy it as much. I think on our next trip, unless DH really fusses we will skip making an ADR and leave it up in the air if we get there or not.

I guess the bargain shopper in me should price out DDP vs OOP. We tend to like appetizers over desserts (so on 06 when we went we were in heaven... app and tip...SCORE!) so I may have to do the math...after all I have the time!

I tend to dress my boys alike (they are 14mo apart) and it drives my friend CRAZY. I don't do it everyday, but their bathing suits match and while in WDW they tend to match. For me it is a safety thing...if we lose one, we can point to the other and say "this is what he is wearing!" She doesn't buy it though, it still drives her crazy!

Can't wait to read more about your trip!

Plans for Day 2 our first full day at Disney (yes I am aware that I haven’t posted day 1 yet. I am still undecided on how to spend my 1st day…so I am moving on for now).

Hopefully we will up and out the door in plenty of time for our 8:40am Breakfast with Mickey at Chef Mickey. We will see if fate allows us to finally eat here. I hope after all these years of waiting it turns out to be worth the wait.

After breakfast we will head to:

Where DD will get her first glimpse of “her” castle:

Disney%2525202008%252520063.jpg

Then we will get in as many rides as we can before the afternoon parade or DD has a complete melt down. I am hoping we will be able to hang in there and see the parade. But I know that DD loves her naps. I am preparing myself for the fact that we may have to cut some park visits short for that all important nap. You may be wondering, why doesn’t she just take a nap in the stroller? Well DD doesn’t do naps outside her bed very often. She has been known to scream for over an hour before saying “thank you” when she was finally laid in her bed. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get her to give it up in the stroller, I’m all ears!

That's all for now. I'll be back for Day 2 Part 2.

Thanks for your kind words. You should start a PTR it really helps pass the time:).
I am from the Piedmont Triad area and my DD is 2 1/2 as well. What a small world. (now just try to get that tune out of your head:rotfl:)I am sure my DD would have liked an character suitcase too. But since we were buying it I wanted one that will hopefully she'll like a little longer;).

My boys go to an extended year school (180 days instead of 200) but I can't complain because I am lucky our number was pulled in the lottery:goodvibes.
Two years ago they tried to move it up to July 30th. Let me tell you the parents rioted and the schedule was quickly revised back to the 1st week in August. The kids already go through the third week in June. Mentally everyone needs all of July off.

Glad you enjoyed Nine Dragons. I chose it only because I was trying to try out some new restaurants.

I love that you dress your kids alike as well. We started it because of the same reason as you but it kind of stuck :). I am lucky that no one gives me a hard time, just a laugh here or there. I figure the boys will tell me when they have had enough :thumbsup2. If it wasn't for matching no one would know they were brothers. They look nothing alike.

Hi there! I am following you over from my TR and joining in! :goodvibes I love your PTR so far! Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Thanks so much for join in :).

I've read that sometimes people buy clip-on fans for their strollers and the cool breeze from the fan puts their chid to sleep. Not sure if it would work for your DD, just a suggestion. :thumbsup2

That's crazy, it is a small world after all. :rotfl: I'm in GSO. :)
I'm considering doing a PTR, but I really don't know if I could write an interesting enough one. You definitely made the right move with the solid suitcase. If I would have bought one I would have gotten plain, but since my sister already had it, it was a win-win for us. :)

After DD gets her much needed nap we will be headed to Epcot. I am planning on dinner at Seasons. Man, I love that food court. Here is a little food porn from past trips.

After dinner I figure we will try to squeeze in as many rides as possible. We love, love, LOVE the night time extra magic hours. Especially since DD insists on those darn naps.:headache: Here’s a couple of Epcot pics from past trips. I know ridden living with the land a 100 times.:rotfl2: Always with the child that is too short for Soarin and we always have one.:thumbsup2

Plans look great! We haven't eaten at Sunshine Seasons! What is popular/good there?

I live in GSO too! We are probably neighbors :rotfl2: I live near Adams Farm.

Joining in! Saw your post (which is very lonely - :rotfl:) on my PTR. Great report so far.

Love that your DD has DH wrapped around her finger...I think it's something about being "Daddy's Little Girl". My DD (who is the oldest) has my DH wrapped too! Love the luggage! :thumbsup2

Just found and read through your TR.

Your kids are adorable:cutie: I can't wait to hear about how your daughter enjoys her first disney trip! I hope you do a TR.

There isn't really a signature dish. They just have a good variety that makes everyone happy.:thumbsup2 I love the sandwiches.

Thanks for your sweet words. I do find my kiddos pretty darn cute but I maybe a little bias.;)
I do plan on doing a trip report so stay tuned.:thumbsup2

Since I haven’t had a lot of luck at willing the time to pass faster, I have been able to pass the time with a little .... ok, ok, A LOT of Disney shopping. I was able to swipe the last of the Disney gift cards at my local Sam’s. If you didn’t hear, Sam’s had Disney gift cards last Christmas. What's so special about those gift cards? In case you missed it, they included a $100 Disney gift card and a $10 dollar Disney Store gift card all for $99. I snatched the last 8. I would have loved to get more but a free $80 to the Disney Store isn’t bad.
I got the boys these shirts:

I got DD these shirts at the Disney Store. I picked up the shorts on clearance at target. She didn’t have any plain shorts. (Gymboree is really good at embelishing their stuff.)

And I got DD these pajamas:

I even got me a shirt:

I picked up Disney silly bands at target on clearance:

IMG_4867.JPG

I got twistable Crayola crayons. They were buy one get two free at Toys R Us. Hopefully they will last longer than the regular ones. I got a few little coloring books at the Target dollar spot. Can you tell I love me some Target.

IMG_4866.JPG

DH picked up DD a PINK lanyard at Disneyland’s DTD while he was on a business trip.

IMG_4873.JPG

He was a good daddy and didn’t go to Disneyland without his kiddos. We are thinking maybe next year. That is all the shopping I am willing to admit to for now. Next up day 3.

Great find on all the tees! I especially like the "fab four" one for your boys :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about not being able to make the days go by faster! UGH, September can't get here fast enough!
