Taking the lazy way out...my trip report

Well, my good intentions for a live trip report failed miserably! But we did have a great time Christmas week! :cool1: The Fort was great, the parks were not as bad as anticipated, and I've decided that the FP+ thing isn't so bad after all. I'm still a big fan of rope drop as well.

And yet again, we biked around the Fort and never felt the need for a golf cart. In fact, I think it is more flexible if you have a group that is relatively independent and wants to do different things or meet up later or hang around the arcade longer or check out the trading post on the way back to the site or whatever.

The Christmas decorations were great! We also went to the HDDR for the first time in several years and had a great time. I wasn't sure how our tween DS would like it at this point, but he was giggling away, especially now that he's starting to get some of the mild innuendo.

So my lazy way out of a trip report is a link to our blog: http://winnieadventures.blogspot.com/2015/01/fl-disneys-fort-wilderness.html :rotfl2:

Bottom line: we will definitely do Christmas again in the future. And of course, we should make it a longer stay next time!

KristinU,

There is an unspoken rule on the camping boards regarding trip reports. You have fun and vacation first, if you have time left over, then post. If your fun is widespread and endless, then post a link to a blog when you get home.

Pics look great and thanks for posting it.

The last thing I want is someone taking away from their family vacation to post me some pics or a report.

Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed reading about your trip on your blog and I like your style :) Once and done :)

I love this unspoken rule :)

Very nice pictures and report. Glad to see you had a quiet night at Mohegan Sun Casino. I live about 30 minutes from there. Only a few State parks open for camping this time of year.

Yeah, slim pickings for us northerners! Actually, I'm glad it worked out that way. I've been toying with boondocking for years but never got up the nerve to actually do it. So kind of being "forced" into it was a good push to the comfort zone!

Glad to read you all had a great time! A friend of mine was there that week and said it was the most crowded she had seen it...glad to see that you thought the crowds were manageable. Christmas is my favorite time to go and we really missed it this year!! I'll be towing the Aliner down 95 for spring break...cross your fingers that I (and it) have a safe, uneventful journey. I know that the A knows the way....just have to trust in my towing abilities! :). Great pictures on your report!

I know you'll do just great! I'm so glad you're heading down with her, you'll have a blast! And yes, you know that I wasn't expecting great things from Christmas week, but with planning it wasn't bad at all! And like I said, I'm still a huge fan of getting up early for rope drop. It worked well at Thanksgiving and Easter week and did not fail us for Christmas - though we only did it once since we had the FP+ reservations and that was really helpful. But being there for Christmas decorations and the Candlelight Processional were priceless!

Have a great time planning! May your drive down be much less stressful than dining reservations and FP+ selections :thumbsup2

Haha! I actually like all of the planning! I think Disney has great appeal for obsessive planners like me! We had great luck with FP+ during last year's whirlwind New Years trip (5 teenagers, 4 parks, 2 days). This trip will be longer and only 4 teens! We are doing the HDDR for the first time...really looking forward to that. My cousin is driving with me and she is used to towing horse trailers, so I hope she will keep me calm towing the Scout. :) Now, just have to wait for that FP window to open!
