We take a stroller and a wheelchair. DS has a wheelchair but is able to get out to get on the plane. We check it at the gate. DD is 2 and we take her stroller to the gate also. It is a good idea to take it to the gate and not check it in with the luggage so you have it in the airport especially if you have a connection. We were stuck in Atlanta for 10 hours (power outage) I would have been lost without the stroller. We used it so DD could sleep and we threw all our carryons in it to wheel around when we went to look for food etc. It is so easy. when you get to your gate just let them know and they will put a tag on it , you wheel it down the jetway and then they take it for you and put it under. When you get off the plane there it is...well, sometimes you have to wait a minute or two. I like the fact that we have it so when we have to go get our luggage DD is in the stroller, less walking in the airport.
