Taking Sippy Cups to WDW

I have a 2 1/2 and 17 month old and we will be going to WDW next month!!! They use the playtex sippy cups and I didn't know if others bring sippy cups to WDW and what kind they bring. I will mainly need it for my 17 month old and wasnt sure if I should bring her playtex ones or do take n toss, we really like the non spill ones. If you do bring regular sippies how do you clean them when you are there?

We'll have this same issue with dd2. We're DVC members, so at night, we can wash them back in the kitchen at our resort. However, during the day, I just do my best to rinse them at the baby stations at each park. I use the Playtex also, and haven't tried the disposable ones.

Kmart and Walmart have disney princess disposable cups. I bought them for our trip next yr.

I think disposable sippies are a great idea, however my persnickity 2 year old only wants her Avent. Sooo I do like the above poster, clean it in our dvc room, or in the parks...clean as best as possible!! Disposables or inexpensive sippies are also great in case one gets lost. I keep an extra or two in the hotel room.

Just as a thought, I try to carry the LEAST amount possible in the parks. Makes life so much easier!!

If you dont want to do a take and toss...just bring your regular cups, a small sponge and a small (think sample size) dish detergent(in a ziploc..lol), and wash it out every night and lay to dry on a towel.

We used a sippy even last year at DL, and DD was 3.5! I like them because (a) they don't spill, (b) they don't get cold on the outside like cans/bottles can, (c) they can't be squeezed (like a juice box or a fountain drink with a lid), (d) I can fill them with what I want and they're used to, (e) I can "sneak" it to them in lines or on a ride if they're fussy, never had a CM care, and (f) because with the insulated ones, I can keep the contents fairly cold.
We never had an issue. I simply rinsed out when she was done, making sure I removed and cleaned the removable tip so it didn't get icky underneath. I cleaned more thoroughly (ie. with soap) when we got back to the hotel room. Like I said, we never had an issue. She's a big drinker, though, so there never really was a long range of time for the contents to get icky.

I brought my kids cups, a small bottle of dish soap and a bottle brush. At night I just washed them out using hot water in the bathroom. I like the regular vs take n toss as they arent insulated. Plus I worry that the lids can pop off and spill.

The other thing that I use is a leash that I got from Right Start. One end loops around the stroller while the other end velcros around the cup. No more lost cups when dd tosses it out!

Sippy cups are a great way to hide our drinks also! Time for a G&T, pull out the sippy cup. But for our tot we went to the baby stations and rinsed them out and washed them if it was a hot day and wanted them cleaned immediately.

I brought a small bottle of dish soap and washed them each nite in our bathroom sink.

I've read that they now make disposable dishrags with the soap incorporated into them. These sound great for cleaning sippy cups in a hotel sink.

I also just bring a bottle of dish soap and a bottle brush (we are also cleaning baby bottles). I just rinse them out during the day and then wash them at night.

Oh, and you can make your own disposable dish cloths. Just lay a paper towel flat, put a small amount of dish soap in the middle, fold the towel in half and then in half again. I put each one in a snack size ziploc bag. Then just get it wet and wash away! I bring a few of these in the diaper bag.

When my son was still on the sippies I bought a few of the .97 cent "NUK" ones for him to take. They are nonspill and I took them into the bathrooms and rinsed em out. When we got back I washed em in the sink with hand soap.

If DS#1 we took the disposables and they worked just fine. DS#2 at 15 months though, would through his cups when he was done drinking (not with the cup empty) and the disposables didn't hold up.

We took cheaper (the $0.97 ones from Walmart, just in case they got lost) regular spill proof sippys. We rinsed them out in the sink whenever he was finished with a drink and washed them out at the resort every night with liquid dish soap (trial size).

We also took two to the parks (one for milk, one for everything else). Plus then if we lost one we weren't completely SOL. Also had a sippy cup cozy to keep drinks cooler (Babies R Us) since we normally have the insultated cups. With DS#3 we use the kind you keep in the freezer before use & then are also insulated to keep drinks really cool--love those!

Bonus to the dish soap--easier to wash little hands with, great for washing refillable mugs, helps in a pinch to handwash an item of clothing that needs immediate attention.

We took some of the toss or re-use kind last year. We washed them at night and re-used them. During the day, I would rinse them out with water between uses. I liked them because we could split big bottles of lemonade, juice or water between the kids without any arguments and because I didn't fret if we lost one (we did lose 2).

I have never been to Disney with my son but we have traveled elsewhere and had to stay overnight. Like most of the previous posts, I picked up a trial size dish soap and a sponge/bottle brush. I'd clean the cups at night and we were good to go the next day. HTH.

We took our sippys and used the bath faucet to wash them. The sink had no water pressure and we had trouble getting them clean. We also brought a tiny bottle of dish soap with us. Make sure you bring plenty with you (to the room, not the parks). We also did a milk sippy and a water sippy. We didn't have to worry about the water going bad (duh!). We also left one of the sippy's on the bus..

I love the Palmolive Dish Cloths-- I'd cut them in 1/4s since they're rather large. I'd just take two cut-up ones with us. They were great for washing sippy cups and mugs.

DD liked to use the regular take n toss cups, so we'd bring a pack to WDW. We used them regularly at home too-- great for me b/c no special valves to clean!

We'd also ask for lidded cups and straws for DD at restuarants. We normally only let her have water in her sippy cups. For milk, we used the Parmalat sippy boxes (milk in a "juice" box)-- they are such a great item for travel.

We just finished weaning DS16 mo off his nighttime (and and last at this point) bottle so that when we head to WDW in Dec, we don't have to worry about bringing them with us. I plan on bringing maybe 3 (1 extra in case he tosses it and we don't catch it) Playtex sippies with a small thingee of detergent. I use the disposable ones sometimes but I don't want to worry about leakage in the diaper bag.

We also have taken our regular Playtex sippies and also bottles when traveling with a baby. In addition to the small bottle of dish soap (I actually fill one of those travel shampoo bottles with it) I also take along a Cool Whip container to actually wash the smaller parts in, as you never know what people put in the sinks. I brought along my own dish towel for drying also.

Boy, this is going to sound REALLY strange, but we still use sippy cups regularly for our boys who are 11, 13 and 14! It's funny because we've had the same ones forever and when we look at our Disney pics from 97 it's like - "Look! There's your same sippy cup!"

We bought a bunch of them then - they're about 12 ounces each with the spout that pops up to pour and down to lock. The kids have finally stopped using them around the house (only in the last year), but ANY time we go on a trip, I fill them with Lemonade and freeze them. Within a couple hours of driving, they're thawed like a slush. The kids then have them to use at the hotel. If we use hotel cups my kids tend to use and toss (or crunch them) and we never have enough. Plus if anyone's sick, you're sharing germs. This way everyone knows whose is red and whose is orange and whose is blue (yep, been that way for 10 plus years!).

Plus no spills in the car (like always happen when we have open cans of pop). And in the hotel the cups are sturdy enough to heat water in for cup a soups or hot chocolate, which the hotel ones frequently aren't. Someday these will all disintegrate and we'll be done with them but still using them for now at least! Although for our Disney trip next summer I bought them all fanny packs with the included water bottles and I'll just write their name in permanent marker on their bottle.

Never really thought about washing them being a problem. Rinse them well in the sink. I guess if you used milk or were there for 2 weeks it could be a problem, but we usually travel for long weekends and only put lemonade in them.
