I know this seems like a silly thing to be thinking about, but do they make everyone take off their shoes? It just seems like it will be such a pain with taking off everyone's shoes, and walking through ( on the dirty floor yukkk).........and then getting all the kids shoes back on...........It will be cold here in New England the time we leave, so no sandals til we get to disney!
I pick strange things to think about I know..........LOL

i think we will all wear 2 pairs of socks then throw away the pair that touches the dirty airport floor,
i am so grossed out. LOL

I will gladly suffer through the inconvenience of taking my shoes off, if it's necessary to assure my flight is a little more secure.

I let my children wear flip flops or sandals when we are flying. If your children are only getting into and out of the car they should be fine. OK not to gross you out but yes the floor may be icky but so are the trays you put your stuff in and the elevator buttons.....OK grossed myself out again!!

My kids always wear flip flops in the airport. It is so much easier when they can get their shoes on and off by themselves, quickly.

As another poster stated, they'll just be in and out of the car. Even if its cold, its better to be cold for a little while, then deal with the hassle of tennis shoes.

We're flying in November and the kids will be in flip flops.

I was surprised, but the TA agent actually made me remove my sandals the last time I flew. Now I would much rather have socks on the dirty airport floor than my barefeet. But they don't always make me remove my sandals. Maybe they were suspicious looking sandals, who knows.

Hey RoliePolieOlie what part of Pittsburgh are you from, I live in Grove City about 2 miles from the outlet Mall. Did you watch the Penguins tonight? When are you going in November, I am flying down on the 27th.
Go Steelers :cheer2:

so if you have on flip flops do they make you take those off? I don't want bare feet on the floor,
hmmm the crocs idea is a good one,

i agree about the trays too, icck!!! i was planning to put the things that have to go in the tray ( cell phone digi camara) in one of those big zip lock bags, can i do that? or can i just leave it inside my purse ( which will actually be a vera backpack), i know the purse will go thru the xray machine right?

i agree, i would rather be safe, I am just one of the biggest dirt and germ phobic people on the planet. I probably should be medicated......:lmao:

Yes, they will make you take flip flops off as well as tennis shoes. I have never been able to go through without taking them off. I generally wear crocs or Keen Sandals. You can wear socks with the crocs if you must to go through. It's no more dirty than a locker room floor or many other places we walk around barefoot.

Yes I have always had to take my flip flops off to walk through. If you are concerned about the floor the booties are there for you to wear over your feet.

used booties? or brand new unused? LOL I know i have issues.

I never go barefoot in a locker room, the only place i go barefoot is in my own home, yard, beach that's it.

i live in my birkenstocks yearround - so when i have to take them off at US security, my feet are most definitely barefoot...no big deal...it's just for a few feet- until the other side of the scanner....

Hey, we're from Peters Township. About 20 miles south of Pittsburgh.
We were at a neighborhood Halloween party tonight so no I didn't watch the Penguins. I hate to admit it, but I'm a fair weather hockey fan. Its horrible :sad2: I know.

But LOVE LOVE LOVE the Steelers.

We going on a Disney Cruise. Flying down November 3rd.

Have a great vacation!

Tampa Airport offers disposable slippers you can wear thru the scanners!!!

Way to go TPA!!!:thumbsup2

I live in NY and this year for the first time, no matter what type of shoes we were wearing, we all had to remove them. Unfortunately, no booties offered. Make sure to wear socks or bring some to put on just for the short period of time that your feet will be shoeless.

:rotfl2:

Let me know how this "assures" your flight is a little more secure.

supposedly the TSA can "see" the explosives in your shoes or some such theory.

Considering the front page of the USAToday last week showed that screeners miss lots of "dummy test" bombs do you really think this works?????

It's another "react" to show we are doing something put in place after the shoe bomber.

And you want my FAVORITE..... In those few airports were the TSA has put in the "puffer" machines that detect explosive residue on you, do you know where your shoes go?? Yep, thru the scanner that does not have that technology. Experts say that the biggest place where they might find residue... on your shoes which aren't going thru the machine to look for them..

:confused3

(And most airports do not have booties. I have been doing this for years every week with no adverse issues. You will live!)
