Anyone ever look at a WDW menu before their trip - not see anything that sounded good, yet went there anyway?

If you did, was it worth the risk?

I'm asking because I'm taking a huge risk with Ohana. Nothing on the menu sounds like my thing, but I'm gonna be brave and try it. ;)

I've done this twice. Once for Nine Dragons (worth it, for us!) and once for San Angel Inn (totally not worth it, except for the atmosphere). It's definitely a risk, especially with 'Ohana, which I think has a "set" menu.

Yep did it with Mama Melrose and hated it!

We do love OHana though.

if I can't find anything I like on the menu (happens VERY often), I check the children's menu...and if still nothing, I ask Disney Dining if any substitutions are offered. Otherwise, I eat earlier and hope for the best! :)

Yup, the menu that used to be posted on allears (they have since updated it) for the Crystal Palace looked very boring to me...not too much of a selection. Boy was I wrong! I was overwhelmed by the selction and quality...so much so that we are going again this year.

I'll be honest with you...I was a little disappointed with 'Ohana. Would I go back? yeah, but it does not excite me like Boma, or CP etc.

We had the Norway Princess lunch booked & I chicken out. The food sounds gross.

O'hana is a hoot.

I wasn't too sure about the menu at Marrakesh in Morocco but figured we might as well give it a try. I have to say I loved everything I ordered...had the feast. It was a little bit of all kinds of stuff and I ate it all. The Crepes Atlas dessert was excellent. I had asked the CM about this restaurant when I was booking it and he said that it was an excellent choice. He said too many people are afraid to try it and it is a really great place. They also have the belly dancer for entertainment. Glad we went out on a limb and gave it a shot!

I've always been told that I need to be more adventurous - so this is my big attempt at doing so. I'm glad to hear others have taken the plunge and tried new foods as well. :)

Boma for me was a risk...athough only partially i suppose since I saw they had a childrens station I would be able to get chicken fingers from :) However, we both absolutely loved it, and thought it was a fantastic experience and place!! This trip, both Jiko and CG are places I don't see anything on the menu I am wild about, but I am willing to try!! :cool1:

We rolled the dice with San Angel Inn for the Candlelight Processional one night. I absolutely hated the meal. Service was bad and the food was worse, but I'm glad I can say I tried it.

Enjoy your meal!

I must agree! DH begged for a Mexican meal one day and well, it's not like we never have it (we're both mexican and we eat it 75% of the time) and so we swung by San Angel. It was such a let down. Tostitos chips?? Please... That was when I knew it was going downhill. The food was horrible. Being from Texas, I knew I could find delicious authentic mexican food for half the price back at home.

I felt this way about the Biergarten, my entire family (10+) went to eat here but me and my sister chickened out. Everyone raved how good everything was here, the next trip I tried it and LOVED it!!! I go everytime now and even crave the food here! I cant wait to get back!

I really want to try Jiko and Boma, and I will the next time, like a previous poster said, if I hate everything I can eat like the kiddies!

Have fun! Be adventurous! We also want to try Ohana's on our next trip!

Glad to hear Biergarten worked out for you Patty. :thumbsup2

It looks like such a fun place, that even if the food stunk, it might still be worth the time and effort. :)
