taking pictures with iphone ?

This is going to sound stupid. But I was just outside with my dog, and I tried to take a picture of him and I could not see the front of my iphone in the sun. I tried shading it with my hand, but I couldn't see it until I was back in the house. This led me to wonder, what the heck am I going to do if I want to take a picture at WDW? I really haven't used my regular camera in over a year and I have lost the charger, so it is not an option. Anyone have tips on how to work this?
