Taking photos at Disneyworld

Well, now we're actually thinking about purchasing another digital camera and therefore more memory cards. We shall see.

What is this photopass everyone keeps mentioning?

Unfornately I am dragging the laptop and I think some blank CD's so each night I can burn them and if I have to delete them my memory cards. I have a bunch but I hate deleting them off the cards. LOL.

I have a sony camera and it's 6.0 mega pixels. I have 6gb to use but you know, I am all about pics, very advid scrapbooker so I don't think it would hurt to have another gb or two. Thanks for the advice. This is a once in a lifetime trip for me so I will want to capture everything.

I already had a 2GB memory card, and before my trip I bought 2 more 2Gb cards. I kept the 2 extra in their packages and it was my plan to only open them if I needed them and return any I don't use. I filled up my first 2Gb card and had to open another one. When I got back home, I returned one card and got my $$ back.

I took 850 pictures and 16 short videos (less than 3 minutes) in 6 days.

Okay....so here is what we have now.

3 year old Sony camera - 2G card, 512kb card, 256kb card
brand new Canon camera - 2G card

I think that should be good enough for us.

Oh...and I also have a Sony video camera. But I typically take more pictures than video. I don't think I'll bring the video camera into the parks everyday though.

I like to take tons, too, so I vote for another memory card. I tend to take more pictures knowing I have more room, though.

When I was there as a child, we have maybe 24 pictures (lol). I went in college and had about 30 pictures. Last trip we went, in April 2007, I took over 700 of them. :rotfl2: I know others take more pictures than I do, but I scrapbook them and need to be sure that I can get them all in albums.

All of you that go to WDW multiple times and take thousands of pics. What do you do with all of them. I just got back and I think I have around a thousand pics. not including the couple hundred on the photopass. I'm a scrapbooker and I'm one of those that think you are suppose to crop and scrap every pic that I own. What do you do with all the pics of all the trips?:confused3

I force myself to sit down at the computer as soon as possible to organize and delete.

For really large batches of pics, check out the free downloadable photo tool at Shutterfly. Their 'grading' system lets me go through pictures quickly, and after I'm done, I just delete the ones with no stars. It's slick!

I order the prints I need (including photopass), then put all photos on a CD, label it and put it in a file cabinet.

I've been a photo hound since the days of film - so I have a large file cabinet that holds negatives and now CD's. I have separate files for every year, and inner files with labels (vacation, family, house, motorcycle, etc). These go back 20 years - it's a biiiiiiiiiiig cabinet!

I did purchase a separate 20gig hard drive awhile back, so I can now keep a few years worth of photos on the computer without dragging it down. I keep everything there for a few years, just so they're handy for projects.

But I make sure and do the CD right after we get back from a trip - otherwise it's too easy to forget what I've done and what's still left to be done!

No matter how many photos I take, I always wish it was more! :goodvibes
This past June we took the 2 oldest grandkids. Got LOTS of pics on day 1, a bunch on day 2 ... by day 4 they were saying " not ANOTHER picture!!"
I always take an extra memory card and fresh batteries.

I have tons of Disneyland photos...I put them all in my photo albums. We just got back and I took 350 on my camera and my husband took about 300 on his. They will all get printed (at Sams Club for 13 cents a print) and put into albums. I'll first weed out the bad ones (blurry ones and stuff like that.)

That was from two days in the parks. Well, mostly just one because the second day was pretty rainy.

Wow, I'm glad I've got myself some more memory cards for my Sony Cybershot after reading all this!

I got a 512mb with my camera, then I got a 1g, 2g and a 4g to go along with them, I believe I should be fine with those :lmao:

Oh one more thing, it's always good to have two batteries, that way, you can have one in your camera, and charge the other back at your room! Never low on battery life then!! :thumbsup2

advice before going!

Make sure you study how to use all the settings before you go! My digital has a fireworks setting that is used when just doing fireworks!!! Its amazing to stand down main street and take the pictures of fireworks going over the castle! Also try this one! If I werent at work I would post a copy of the picture but one is of the side of the castle and sunset and all you see is a silhoutte! Its beautiful!!! Always keep your camera close and ready! You never know when you are going to see celebrities too!! ENJOY
