in the morning. I thought it would be easier than sending the first one off to university, but now I'm not so sure. At least she's only going to Windsor which is only about a 45 minute drive, so we can see each other whenever we want. If you see someone bawling their eyes out going eastbound on the 401 tomorrow night, you'll know it's me.

Ah, Pooh, I'm sorry that you are so sad. I've been watching and listening as everyone else prepares for the big change.

Now, I am going on the weekend with my DD. So, we'll see how I do myself!

DS started in the city at Fanshawe last year, but stayed at home. Last week, we (read Mom paid) for an apartment close to the College so that he can be more independent and responsible. I know that he was a bit apprehensive, but will settle in nicely, I think. At least, when I talked to him last night, he seemed happy, and meeting the girls living in the building. I'm looking forward to planning my time, without worrying about his classes. :p

DD moves into Queens on Sunday, so we will leave in the wee hours to get her moved in as early as possible. I will miss her (and her driving!) but know that she, too, is ready to fly the coop. I'm looking forward to clean(er) bathroom counters, and less fighting between her and her dad.

I'll go through the third next year at this time, too. And then....four years after that.....and then two years later. :earseek:

Windsor is a nice campus. DD was headed there until she got into a very difficult programme (concurrent music/education) WITH a substantial scholarship at Queens. DS2 is looking at Windsor for next year. . . .along with whatever university will take him. :yo-yo:

Take care, hun.

My heart goes out to you.... I have a long way to go yet but I'm not looking forward to the empty nest happening.

Good luck to all you mom's and dad's sending your 'babies' off to University

Nah - taking the second one isn't easier - it's harder in my humble opinion. Just took the oldest to London last Friday and the youngest to Ottawa on Sunday. DS#2 is in his second year - last year he was in rez and this year he's in an apartment with two friends. I cried more this year than last year - go figure! (maybe it's because he's in his own apartment??) Anyway - here's a :grouphug: for all of us moms this week.

I'm not there yet, but I feel for you. In fact I'm tearing up just reading this post, so I don't think I'll ever find it easy to let go. But they're always our babies, right? Good luck to all of you!

Hi Pooh,
I can certainly understand what you are going through...I just took my DD back two weeks early as she had to attend residence assistant training, so I feel even more cheated.
Just watch out with all those tears puddling up the car, salt stains are hard to get out!! I know I'm having a hard time getting the dog stain free as I always grab him when I need a good cry and he's getting rather crusty:eek:

Thanks for all the support guys. I know that many of us are going through this right now. I actually wasn't too bad leaving her today (only cried a little bit) because she had already made a couple of new friends and did not seem anxious about me leaving at all - in fact I think she was looking forward to it!

Now with both of my kids in post secondary I've just realized that maybe it's time for me. Maybe I can finally do some of things I've been wanting to do! (Won't have any money left to do most of them though!!!! )
