Hi! My husband and I are going with my parents to Disney this winter, probably late January. We have been there three times in the last 2 years. Our first trip we stayed at Coronado Springs (our honeymoon) and really liked it. The other two times we stayed at POR and LOVED it! My parents stayed at POR on our recommendation for 2 days when they went with my brother's high school band last year. They really liked it as well...their first time on-site. I thought for sure we would stay there for this trip, but now I'm considering the Beach Club. Does anyone have any thoughts on this choice? I have learned SO MUCH from these boards so I'm really hoping to get some suggestions. Any input is welcome...THANKS SO MUCH! :flower:

Have not stayed at BC but have stayed at YC. Peresonally I love the convenience of being able to walk/ride a boat to EPCOT and MGM. Plus with BC you have access to all the onsite dining choices

Thanks for the post! Are there big differences between BC and YC, or are they pretty comparable?

Sounds like your parents are pretty young so getting around shouldn't be too much of a problem. I must say that staying at the BC or BWI is such a treat because you can walk out of your resort and be somewhere right away.
There are plenty of places to get a bite to eat and an easy walk to Epcot or MGM. People watching is great there also. If your parents are going to storm the parks all day then I would say it doesn't matter that much. But if they enjoy a little softer pace, I'll bet they would love staying along the Boardwalk area.
Just go ahead and make your decision and don't obsess over whether you made the right one. I'd say they will have a great time regardless and spending the time enjoying family will be the best part of the trip for them.

I would do BC or YC or even Boardwalk the location is great
there is always something going on
all 3 are amazing and the pool at YC/BC is great
dont forget about beaches n cream
get the kitchen sink

and I will add Dolphin into the resorts to choose from
think your parents will really enjoy being in the Epcot/MGM area.
such a beautiful area

my favorite in the world

Not all beach club rooms have balconies. Some have none, some have tiny ledges that you can only stand on. Our YC room had a full balcony with two chairs and a table. The YC is decorated tastefully with a nautical theme, navy & white, lots of tied knots, the BC is more peach and aqua, sea shell type. BC is however the home of Beaches & Cream and Cape May cafe, and also offers beach club villas, the DIsney time share

I think it would be very nice to stay at either BC or YC too. When we were taking my little brother too, it was going to POR definitely. But now he can't go, so it's "Adults Only." I think the atmosphere and proximity to the parks would be great. And we ate at Spoodles on our last trip and walked around by the BC, and my husband said, "we HAVE to stay here at some point." I'm definitely going to look into it.

If anyone has any other suggestions on what would help make this a fun trip, I'm all ears. I was thinking dinner in the castle, and maybe Cirque tickets.

I have stayed at CBR, ASM, ASMu and YC. I lucked into an incredible price break our first trip to YC and I was blown away. The rooms are large and very nice and the grounds and views are wonderful. That being said the greatest thing about YC is the location as others have mentioned. IMHO it's the best location on property.

BC would be my vote. Its really nice and more compact then POR. I also like that its all indoors incase you are caught in the rain, you have some cover once you get to the resort.
The location is awesome. We love MGM and my older teens love Epcot so we are just a quick boatride or walk away. We also love the pool area and the kids really like to eat at Beaches & Cream.

We have stayed at both the BC and POR. Love POR, but if money is not a problem, stay at the BC! It is wonderful. I have not stayed at the YC, but my best friend has and likes BC better. We liked BC better than BW as it is a tad bit closer to World Showcase. We were staying the in rooms closest to Epcot, so it was a short walk.

The rooms are larger with interior corridors. But the big selling point for me is that you do not have to take buses everywhere. You can take the boat to MGM and Epcot or walk.

Also, love the Dolphin. Sometimes that is a bit less than BC.

No matter where you stay be sure to eat at Fresh at the Dolphin. YUM!!!

I have never stayed at BC or YC but I have heard (here) that Yacht Club is a little quieter and more 'adult' than Beach Club.

You can always stay in one of the villas at Beach Club. If you rent through a Vacation Club Member, you can get a great price, and it shouldn't be that many points for January. We stayed in a villa at WL in 2001 through my sister's timeshare. It was great to have the extra space, and the kitchen came in handy. We walked through Beach Club on our last trip, and thought we would definitely stay there this time. It's beautiful! Unfortunately, they were booked, so we are renting a villa at Saratoga Springs through another member. Of course, if you don't want to share space, then 2 rooms at Beach Club would be fine, but expensive. It would probably be cheaper renting a 2 bedroom villa there through a member instead of paying for two rooms.
Sorry for rambling.....

Debbie
