I fly on an almost monthly basis, but so far the only electronic devices I've brought with me are cell phones, ipods and portable dvd players, none of which I've had to remove from my bag at security. I recently got an HP Touchpad (similar to an ipad) and was wondering if this is generally something that needs to be placed in a separate bin at security. I just want to be prepared rather than potentially hold up the line trying to get it out ;)

Just flew with my iPad last week and did not need to pull it out of the carryon. That was at BOS and MCO. However, if you fly monthly you've probably already realized there there is a lot of variability to TSA screenings depending on apparently the phase of the moon. As they say, your mileage may vary.

I usually take my HP Mini with me....I always take it out and put it in it's own bin now. There have been times that I have been told it doesn't need to come out of it's bag, and other times when I left it in it's bag, I have been told it it does. So, with the lack of consistency I just take it out of the bag and put it in it's own bin.

took ours out last week & put in bin imo worth it to save back & forth 'belt scanning' time that tends to happen when lots of electrical cords/ipods, etc. in carryon:)

we have the 'official' touchpad case just left it in it, no worries:)

I'm glad to hear that! I have the official one too and as snug as it is on there, it seems like it wouldn't be the easiest thing to take off last second ;)

we flew out of BUF and HP Touchpad was in my carry on bag and they didn't look at it at all either direction..
